The way that I would dual client involved disc copies of the game.
The directory for Jedi Academy is of course: C:\Program Files (x86)\LucasArts\Star Wars Jedi Knight Jedi Academy\GameData\base

It wasn't showing in the menu because the icon wasn't named correctly; he just needs to follow proceedure to get himself scaled probably now.

If you want to make a new skin without overwriting something that exists, you need only change the filepath in the .skin file accordingly. I've written a tutorial which you may find useful.
