However, with the notion that this mod will eventually released publicly, I think such a feature would be a nice little bonus.

So the question is at one point do we stop focusing on tailoring the RPmod to JEDI and start tailoring it for general consumption?

That is neither fair, nor logical Evan. I'm open to discuss this on MSN more, but the bottom line is you're suggesting better rp perks for those who've been here the longest. An initiate can mock Anakin's stance just as well as an Advanced Padawan. People who have dedicated enough time and effort to earn the ability for a custom lightsaber get.....a custom lightsaber.

Yup and those people are called Knights. (Occasionally Padawans on the verge of Knighthood) I think this is current policy that only Knights can have custom stances, if I'm wrong let me know.
Either way, for RPMod, I like the suggestion.

I think if you learn yourself how to do this there is no real issue. It's annoying to have to out source everything. If you want to know how to do this. Become a Jedi and do the coding yourself or get a friend to show you.

Problem solved.

I don't think that fancy pants stances etc should be openly available. It's fine the way it is. I'd rather see someone take the time to learn the true combat forms inside out and the marks of contact to actually RP then spend the time on this. That's just me.

If I were teaching you to use your lightsaber, I'd say something like (regarding anakins lazy posture) Stand up straight, bend your elbows, stop holding your light saber so lazily. (( ))

That's why this stance would be a +

What special right do Knights have to an animation that helps rp?

It's just as bad as not allowing hopefuls to age, except this there is no excuse for.

I rather think ANYTHING that supports rp and boosts how a character acts, thinks, or feels, should be implemented if it can be. The only thing Knights have accomplished is that they have been here longer. Besides that this would save having to edit these stances into custom lightsabers.

The problem Baelin is that if you want custom stances, holsters et cetera, you write them YOURSELF. But ...and here is the catch. You need to BUILD a light saber to do so in order for that to make sense at all. SO, my suggestion is when your training is "nearly complete" and you "build your own light saber" then you write the pk3 as you wish and have it placed into the pack.

And since you brought it up Hopefulls "can't" age. It's the only system that makes sense.

But to stay on topic, the original suggestion to have it optional through RP mod is fantastic. Though I would strongly advocate that it be restricted to Jedi who have put in the time and effort into their training to actually build one in the RP.

A little harsh, but I have to agree with Sasha.

If what is suggested could be implemented through rpmod, there would be absolutely no need to create a custom saber to achieve any such stance, bottom line.

If a one time writing of this into rpmod works, nobody would ever have to do it again. I don't need to build a lightsaber to hold my saber differently. That's preposterous. I don't want to start a flame war, so I apologize if I sound like a jerk, it is not my intent to do so.

I just don't understand why we would have to restrict this to people advanced enough to build their own saber if it could be implemented via the rpmod console.

I'm sorry but having to build a lightsaber to have another stance is plain stupid. "Look, I've got a training lightsaber! But I can't change my stance or I'll die..."

You can't change your stance from light to heavy without being trained either.
Stances are very specific openings for lightsaber forms, so not just anyone should be able to go: OHAI without losing defence

I still agree about the 'losing defence' part. But I can't really see the harm for it to be restricted to high padawans+ ONLY. That's why the original suggestion, which asks for a toggle command, is actually a good one.

Initiates and low padawans lose defense all the time due to their normal stances.

Exactly why they shouldn't have a stance which indicates flippancy, and opens them up to attack, Baelin - they're already vulnerable, so using a stance which further negates their defensive posture is just asking for trouble.

My thoughts. That would also make you use your 'cool vader stance' more cautiously.

These stances are perfect for people who don't know how to hold a saber correctly, because it reflects their ignorance in the art.
