Thanium Worlds Campaign Record
Image
Act 1: Investigation

Shortly after the establishment of the Third Estate the nearby Thanium sector began experiencing an increase in pirate and smuggling activity that preyed on the disparate worlds within that region of space. Because of a turbulent history of warfare, political disorder, and competition between the planets in the sector, there was no sector-wide security force nor coordination between worlds for mutual defense. Each major world in the sector maintained its own, personal, security forces that did nothing more than keep their immediate hyperspace lanes secure and no others. This allowed for multiple points of entry for ne'er-do-wells to perform clandestine operations across the sector including smuggling, interdiction, and hostile boarding actions for freighters across the sector.

To answer this rising threat, a small paramilitary group formed called the Starlight Corps. Captained by a Stenax captain, Lagyanes Bendix, and based out of a (mostly) refurbished Mere Cruiser named The Syrinx, the Starlight Corps had a fighter contingent that they used to patrol where they could and harass pirates in order to allow civilian freighters and transport vessels time to escape. However, the capacity of the Starlight Corps was still extremely limited and fully committed to patrolling hyperspace lanes. They did not have the ability to be proactive, and so they asked for assistance…

Image
Mere Cruiser Syrinx

The Starlight Corps first requested JEDI support in patrolling hyperspace lanes. While the Corps focused on fighting against pirates, Bendix also suspected that they were a distracting measure to pull attention away from the true goal: smuggling weapons and other equipment through the sector. To where he did not know, but he hoped that the JEDI would be able to identify an affiliated smuggler, apprehend them, and gain information from the arrest.

Image
Starlight Corps Captain Lagyanes Bendix

After failing to arrest a smuggler, Bendix still needed help figuring out who was being the pirate and smuggling operations in his sector. The world Thanium, sharing a name with the larger sector, was a major trade center that continually had shipping traffic through it. He asked JEDI operatives to go to the world where he suspected a haunt for these smugglers was located. Going undercover, Jedi Master Mirkal and Padawan Zhu’shk identified one of the smugglers. While Mirkal distracted the Sooman smuggler, Zhu’shk managed to slice into his datapad, finding a direct connection between the smuggling operation and the up-and-coming Ice-Flame Chamber, a Hutt Cartel gaining power and influence in Hutt Space. It was also discovered that the Ice-Flame Chamber was smuggling weapons to the planet Stenos where a radical conservative movement was growing with the desire to reclaim glory days of war and expansion through violence.

Relevant Documentation:
Spoiler
Trying to build off of this knowledge, Jedi Master Mirkal launched an operation with his padawans Yusuki Makashi and Torij’kan to bait some Hutt pirates into a trap. Setting up a freighter to look derelict and defenseless in space, the plan was to lure out the Pirate captain covertly, capture him, and acquire information. Unfortunately, the pirates got wise to the fact there were Jedi on the ship, withdrawing and then firing on the freighter. Using a hidden ship inside, the Jedi managed to escape unharmed, but the knowledge of who was funding the weapons smuggling to Stenos remained hidden.

Epilogue:

The Jedi investigations on behalf of Lagyanes Bendix and the Starlight Corps were partially successful. They identified that the Ice-Flame Chamber was being funded by a mysterious third party to supply weapons to a radical and violent faction on the planet Stenos. Shortly after, the health of the enigmatic Emperor of the Stenax people started to fail. Turning 243, he had served as Emperor for 204 years and had been a progressive ruler by attempting to steer his people culturally and politically towards peace and harmony with their neighbors. His government, meanwhile, had skewed conservative and embraced old ideas of the times of the Stenax Massacres, advocating for a violent return to greatness by conquering nearby planets to expand their borders. It became evident that whoever was funding this operation to supply the extremist Stenax, they were expecting that with the death of the Emperor the Stenax would pursue war.

Act 2: The Diplomatic Theater

With the only barrier to a war of aggression versus the planets in Thanium being the health of the ailing Emperor, Lagyanes Bendix worked with Tain F’neel, ambassador and representative of the Thanium planetary government, to create a diplomatic campus on the nearby Republic world Lianna. It took convincing, but all of the major planetary powers in the sector did send ambassadors to the campus.

It became immediately apparent why Thanium did not have a sector government, sector defense force, or any sort of sector-wide infrastructure of a meaningful sort. Of the major powers those who were not at each other’s throats had distanced themselves from the conflicts of their fellow star systems. To give the summit more legitimacy, the Starlight Corps asked the Jedi to meet with the Republic Senate Committee on Foreign Relations to approve and send their own ambassador to the Summit.

Tragically, the Third Estate expanded into the Hydian Way via the Pho Ph’eah system. Because of this, markets and industries in the Northwestern part of the Republic were suddenly cut off from markets in the Corporate Sector Authority space which disrupted those markets severely. This came to a head with the collapse of the D’Astran Legacy Bank on the Ecunopolis Axxila. In turn, this caused an economic panic in this region of the Republic that sent ripples through the whole Republic economy. Facing economic uncertainty and a growing rival along their border, the Republic Senate was not receptive towards the idea of involving itself into a historically difficult and turbulent sector’s internal conflicts.

Through hours of negotiation, Jedi diplomats successfully convinced the Committee on Foreign Affairs to recommend an ambassador to Lianna.

Relevant Documentation:
Spoiler
Due to this, the Third Estate also expressed an interest in involving itself into the affairs of the sector. Lagyanes Bendix worried that this would allow the Third Estate to command influence over worlds in the sector by offering them direct aid in their personal struggles, as well as a refuge against the growing Stenax threat, allowing further expansion of the dictatorship territorially effectively trading one devil for another.

Jedi infiltrators went undercover to intercept the Third Estate ambassador to discreetly survey and obtain defaming information that would help convince the Lianna summit to reject the ambassador and deny the Third Estate the ability to quietly or covertly gain the loyalty of worlds at the summit.

Through the course of the operation, the Jedi found direct evidence proving that the Third Estate was the mysterious third party that was funding the Hutt support of the Stenax. Bringing this information to the summit, as well as Padawan Rizka Barrow publicly humiliating the Third Estate Ambassador who had shamelessly made advances towards her during their covert operation, the Thanium Ambassadors did vote to reject the Third Estate ambassador who then immediately asked for sanctuary within the Republic out of fear for his life for his failure.

Relevant Documentation:
Spoiler
Knowing his life was coming to an end, the Stenax Emperor himself wished to visit the summit. The ambassadors voted to accepted this wish, opening an opportunity to speak before their assembled governments. Emperor Hautrn asked the Jedi order to escort him to the summit as he had concerns over a cabal of people in his court and government conspiring against him. His concerned proved to be well founded, as Jedi Knight Donan Healof and Padawan Zhu’shk were confronted with a well organized, coordinated, and supplied assassination attempt on board the Emperor’s corvette while it was en route to Lianna. Even when they got him safe to the summit, the danger had not passed. Right before his speech, the Jedi managed to stop Sooman ambassador Molara Landra as she stood and used an assembled hold-out pistol that had been concealed to try and kill the Emperor.

Image
Stenax Emperor Hautrn's Final Speech

The Emperor managed to give a rousing speech in a last-ditch attempt to unify the Thanium Worlds versus what he saw as his government going rogue. Tragically, he died very shortly after his speech. Within hours of the Stenax government receiving the news of his passing the Lords’ Chamber elected seventeen year old Emperor Xenphalan who authorized the directive to begin a military operation to set up a forward operating base over the unpopulated Rhen Var system. War in Thanium had come.

Relevant Documentation:
Spoiler
After days of nearly non-stop negotiation, Padawan and future Knight Zhu'shk crafted an alliance out of nearly impossible conditions. Bringing together enemies and making them reluctant allies, Zhu'shk with the assistance of Padawan Rizka Barrow and others brought the diverse worlds of Thanium to sign the Lianna Accords. Tragically, before they were finalized, a core component of the Accords fell through.

The Jedi High Council pulled its support from the Accords at the last moment. The result of this was the complete collapse of an extremely fragile arrangement with the Sooman monarchy to release the planet Alzar from vassalage in exchange for purchasing playboy gambler Yan Eelan's casino planet Elerion. The original document stated in Article III:

Transfer of Elerion

Yan Eelan shall execute a sale of the Elerion System exclusively to the Sooman Kingdom, thereby transferring all rights, titles, and interests in said system.

Transfer Collateralized by the Jedi Order

The transfer of the Elerion System to the Sooman Kingdom shall be collateralized by the Jedi Order. Any standing of losses due to the transfer being incompleted shall be compensated financially by the Jedi Order.

This collaterization is pledged by representative of the Jedi Order, Padawan Zhu'shk.

When the Jedi Order withdrew its willingness to act as trustee of the system, the Sooman's refused to release Alzar, leading to immediate declarations of war and allegiance to the Third Estate on the part of the Alzarian royalty. Despite this, the rest of the Accords were nonetheless agreed to. The final draft that was signed by all the following planets of the Thanium Sector is as follows:

Act 3: The Thanium War

Many JEDI opted to go against the High Council's choice to pull out of the Thanium Sector, leaving the worlds therein to fight for their survival and safety. In response, several members were exiled while others left willingly to defend Thanium.

The beginning of the war was difficult. As both sides mustered for the first major Stenax offensive, the Thanium Alliance itself found the cracks it had upon its inception already spreading and threatening to break the alliance apart from the inside... Something that the Third Estate sought to exacerbate through covert intervention.

Assault on Alzar
Spoiler
Because of the Jedi Order's decision to pull out from the Lianna Accords, the Alzarians declared a war for independence from the Sooman Monarchy. Formally allying themselves with the Third Estate, the Third Estate did not send their own troops to Alzar, but actively supplied the Alzarian Monarchy with advanced armor, mechs, weapons, and combat aircraft to secure their independence. While the Thanium Sector Alliance was, broadly, unhappy with the situation of suppressing claims of Alzarian Sovereignty, the threat of the Third Estate gaining a foothold in the sector was too high.

Having left the Order at the time, Nil Zendu (Knight Rank) and Rizka Barrow (Padawan Rank) were ordered by then Exiled Knight Aranna Vaan to support the Thanium Sector Alliance's top-performing commando squad, Zillo Squad, in helping the Sooman Kingdom to establish a beachhead on Alzar. Zillo Squad, led by the former Jedi, punched a hole through the Alzarian lines and destroyed the Alzarian back-line artillery and anti-air positions, allowing for the advance of the Sooman Army to be successful.

After landing troops, the Soomans laid siege to the Alzar capital city. Zillo Squad, along with Nil and Rizka, infiltrated the city and instigated a series of protests from the discontented Alzarians within, while also helping prop up another member of the royal family to succeed King Kurzog XII who would be pressured to abdicate due to the horrible living conditions of his people due to the war.

At the same time, the Third Estate deployed one of their top Curator Agents, Maverick (also known to the Jedi as Ender Caard) to maintain the status quo within the Alzarian monarchy. However, whatever efforts they put into the attempt to keep King Kurzog XII on the throne failed, and the operation led by Zillo and the former Jedi to cause a bloodless coup was successful. The new regime ended the war for Independence, and Alzar fell into a relative, if disquiet, peace allowing the Sooman Empire to delegate its forces back to the Stenax front.
Trouble on Tahlboor
Spoiler
Tahlboor Planetary Map

Though the Troobs and Hobors officially made an agreement in the Lianna Accords to share planetary political power, land control, and sovereignty, radical clan leaders with the Hobors were still angry at the new status quo and were looking to the Third Estate to stage a coup of their own to take full control of the Planet.

Again, Zillo Squad was deployed alongside Rizka and Nil to track down where the hidden Third Estate supply depots were located across the face of Tahlboor. Rizka and Nil uncovered the location of the central landing zone wherein the supplies were redeployed to smaller supply drops across the planet. Planting tracking devices onto various supply shuttles to find their intended destinations. Zillo Squad would take out several, while Nil and Rizka would destroy the central depot and subsequently destroy others in tandem with Zillo.

However, en route to one of the smaller supply drops, Rizka and Nil were contacted by an anonymous transmission stating the following:
Nil Zendu. Rizka Barrow. I know you are on Tahlboor currently on an operation. However. Nothing is more important than the information about to be relayed to you.

The Third Estate is actively mounting an operation that will forever change the trajectory of galactic history and power. You need to divert your current heading to these coordinates and stop the theft of critical plans that the Third Estate intends to obtain.

They have sent their best agents to ensure this operation is successful. No one can prevent this but you.

Hydian.

End Transmission.
Arriving at the coordinates that were given, the former Jedi found that they were looking at the Sky Cannon, a super-weapon that the ancestors of the Troobs had used, and in doing so accidentally destroying one of their moons and plunging their world into an apocalypse from which they still have not fully recovered. Within the complex the former Jedi found that local militant Hobors had led Third Estate commandos inside to recover the plans for the super-weapon. Fighting through the facility, Nil and Rizka got to the cannon's base to find a dish uploading the plans offworld... Protected by the Third Estate's most powerful enforcer, fallen Jedi Sathona, codenamed Leviathan.

Cutting off power to the transmitter, Nil and Rizka thought they had stopped Sathona's broadcast. However, Sathona defeated both Nil and Rizka in saber combat, taking off Rizka's arm, and retrieved flimsy copies of the plans before making her escape from the world. While they had survived, the Third Estate got access to the plans to the super weapon.
Mobilization on Mossak
Spoiler

After a major shift within the membership of the High Council, The High Council hesitantly allowed the Duneeden Branch to send volunteers to help within the conflict due to the urgings of Grandmaster Coron Audax. Re-inviting back members, many of whom were exiled, and others who had left to follow their values, the Order authorized an expeditionary task force of Jedi Knights and Padawans to aid in the assault on Mossak to establish an Alliance foothold on the planet to maintain its security from the Stenax Invasion.

Image

Led by Jedi Knights Rhuacca and Varlo Racktor, Padawans Vakin Helios and Rakta Broac made covert planetfall near an archipelago of great strategic value. Destroying the island's anti-air canon, Alliance reinforcements landed a tank of the 1st armored division along with Zillo Squadron member 1st Lieutenant Doro Sol to press the offensive to the main island compound.

Midway through the assault, an anonymous message crackled through the comlinks of the Jedi Strike Team as follows:
Hydian.

Jedi forces on Mossak. You do not know me, but you need to trust me. Within the compound you're advancing on are Curator agents. They have been trained in lightsaber combat and in the force by Minister Soleb's right hand, Leviathan. Be warned and prepared. Good luck.

Perlemian

After successfully getting their tank to the wall of the compound, the main battle tank punched a hole in the exterior wall, granting the JEDI access. Within, three Force-wielding enemies, known as Curators, were within as promised by the anonymous message. The JEDI defeated the Curators, buying time for Doro Sol to disarm det-charges that were placed throughout the facility to level it, and the mission was a success, allowing for Alliance troops to be re-deployed across the surface of Mossak to fight to reclaim the planet in its entirety.

Re: Thanium Worlds Campaign Record

Post by Aranna Vaan »

Act 3: Chapter 2

Overview

Now that the opening battles have commenced and the lines have been drawn, the Thanium Alliance force is engaged across three different system conflicts: Felucia, Drakyuse, and Mossak. The Alliance armed forces are engaged planetside on both Felucia and Mossak. While the Stenax Empire has found a foothold on Drakyuse, Battle Group Magenta is deployed to maintain pressure on the system to prevent the Stenax from pushing that advantage, for now.

The Thanium Alliance has requested that any Jedi who are willing to help serve on a longer-term basis in a number of conflict zones. Each of these zones has ongoing operations that are in need of support in a number of ways, both combat and non-combat roles.

Enrollment

Any Knight who is willing or interested in volunteering for any of the below roles, please contact Knight Aranna Vaan who is the liaison officer to the Thanium Alliance.

Any Padawan who is willing or interested in volunteering for any of the below roles, please consult your immediate mentor or master. If you have no direct mentor or master, please contact Knight Aranna Vaan who will assign you a conflict zone if she deems it appropriate.

Any Initiate who is willing or interested in volunteering may be eligible for a non-combat role only. These roles could include artisan related skills such as mechanics, engineering, slicing, computer science, or medicine. Please contact Knight Aranna Vaan who will do her best to assign you to an appropriate position and give you a Knight supervisor on-site at the conflict zone.

Jedi Leadership Roles:

Knights will have the equivalent military rank of Colonel. Padawans and Initiates will have the equivalent rank of 1st and 2nd Lieutenant respectively.

Junior Officers (Padawans and Initiates):
Spoiler
All of the below roles have a “Junior” equivalent (Example: Junior Wing Commander). These roles can be filled by any Padawan. Non-combat roles, such as medical or mechanical officers, may be, at the council’s discretion, assigned to Initiates of high enough ability as well.
Strategic Advisor:
Spoiler
Remains in the field to coordinate space and ground forces effectively. Strategic Advisors will pre-plan operations and oversee real-time engagements in order to facilitate effective Jedi participation in coordination with regular troops.
Medical Officer:
Spoiler
Will assist and lead in field triage, operating room needs, as well as post-op situations. Medical officers will supply conventional as well as force healing knowledge and techniques while also being available for added support to care-givers, soldiers, and civilians through the conflict.
Mechanical Officer:
Spoiler
Designed with Jedi artisans and slicers in mind, there's an abundant need for competent mechanics to keep Alliance snub fighters in the air, troop transports functional, weapons systems online, as well as shield capacity for capital ships at 100%.
Wing Commander:
Spoiler
Will lead Jedi flight wings in coordination with Alliance fighter groups to maintain air and space superiority over Stenax battle groups. Jedi, and Jedi Wing Commanders, operate under their own discretion but may take Alliance orders under advisement.
Field Officer:
Spoiler
Will lead Jedi strike teams on surgical operations to critically harm Stenax defensive infrastructure planetside during ground invasions. May assist allied forces in front-line combat. Jedi, and Jedi Wing Field Officers, operate under their own discretion but may take Alliance orders under advisement.
Special Operations Officer:
Spoiler
Leads excursions with commando units and other Jedi to perform force recon and operations behind enemy lines. These operations include sabotage, supply line disruption, reconnaissance, extraction/rescue operations, and more.

(( How to Participate ))

Once you have been given an above role and a conflict zone, you can contribute directly to the war effort by consistently writing about your character's experiences in the war-effort in their journals. Each journal entry will give 1 point towards winning your conflict zone.

Writing Guidelines
Spoiler
  • Write your own story: You will be assigned to a regiment, but it's up to you to create your own squad, your own NPC team-mates, your own friends, rivals, incompetent people who you need to work with. You're also encouraged to incorporate any NPC's you may create in subsequent in-game missions if it would make sense for them to be there.
  • Always assume modest success: Whenever you're assigned a mission to be done via journals or over a long period of time or 'off screen' always assume your character will succeed. Your character is competent and a student in the Jedi Order.
  • Don't be afraid to write about a failure: While you can always assume you will succeed, don't be afraid to write about losses, they are inevitable in any warzone.
  • Make it a "slow burn"Journal entries need to have effort put into them with a high level of detail and care. This is a way to explore your characters inner thoughts about the conflict. Don't "short hand" any posts.

Bad example: "I waded through the enemies, and I lost count of how many I killed"

Good example: "It was 0800 in the morning, and already the sounds of battle filled the bay of my dropship. I closed my eyes, taking deep breaths, trying to calm my nerves to no effect. The warning klaxon went off and the bay doors opened. I ignited my saber and braced for landfall."
  • Ask for input or advice: If you want to write a story of your character's experience during the arc but don't know where to start reach out to Aranna or another knight for help! If you're writing something and something tells you it's maybe too much or too little or too bland etc reach out! We're a collaborative community and people are always available for you.
Knights may lead in-server excursions. These can be simple or complex, and in either case the excursion will add 5 points towards success in that combat zone. With a Knight Supervisor & IC Knight Permission Student Admin may also lead an excursion.

Every time you write a journal/host an excursion that relates to the activity, send Aranna a link to it on Discord so they may organize the week's events in regular updates to record the broader narrative.

(( How to Win ))
Spoiler
Every week will be a turn in the conflict. Each turn ends on Saturday at 2300. When each turn ends, the Stenax will gain +10 points towards their objective score.

Each conflict zone is ‘lost’ if the Stenax ever achieves a score of 25. The Jedi can push against this in two main ways:
  • Knights who lead either a formal or informal event within the conflict zone earn 5 points for the Alliance.

Knights may perform operations in conflict zones outside of their assignments should they choose. Padawans and Initiates may only contribute to their assigned conflict zone unless they are on a knight-led excursion in the server.
  • Every journal post of significant effort adds 1 point for the Alliance.
If the Alliance, by the end of any week, gains a score of 10, the Alliance wins in that conflict zone.

Because of successful missions on Felucia and Mossak, the Stenax only have a 5 point head-start at the conflict's start. Drakyuse has a 10 point head-start.

Example Conflict Zone Scale:
-25 |====================|=====0==========| +10

For example:
Spoiler
The Southern Secura Isthmus front has 2 Knights and 2 Padawans assigned to it. If each of these Jedi posts 2 journal posts over the course of a week, that’s 8 points for the Alliance. If each knight hosts 1 ‘impromptu outing’ in the conflict zone of some sort, that’s an additional 10 points. In this example, the Stenax only advanced 2 points towards winning the conflict zone.
If, by the end of Chapter 2 (6-8 weeks expected) the zone has not been lost, the Alliance will have endured and win the zone.

Fail Conditions

If 2 conflict zones are lost in any individual system, the Stenax push the Alliance out, securing the planet themselves and increasing the difficulty of maintaining Thanium Independence.

If two systems are lost, planets will begin leaving the Thanium Alliance to annex themselves with the Third Estate for protection.

Week 1 Results | 461.30 - 461.38

On nearly every front the Stenax have pushed Alliance Forces back. Due to slow deployment of JEDI forces because of internal conflict, debate, and reluctance, the Alliance forces have lost ground that was initially gained during the first offensive across Mossak and Felucia. The subsystem of Draukyze IV's Gas Giant is nearly lost completely after a massive push from Battle Group Razor.

Week 2 Results | 461.108 - 461.114

Exposing those responsible for the assassination the Governess of Galidraan's son and an attempt to frame the Alliance as responsible, Jedi Ambassadors Taruk, Eluna, and Nulin secured additional Galidraanian support across all fronts.

Redoubled effort and reinforcements from Jedi Officers and Junior Officers hold the lines on Felucia and Mossak, though two of Mossak's fronts threaten to fall unless immediate intervention is undertaken.

An off-the-books operation by Amani, Aeon, and Rizka to tale down leads on the missing Helayna Bralor uncovered critical intelligence that was the only thing that saved the Draukyze IV third moon from a Stenax onslaught. Unfortunately, Lagrange Point B was overwhelmed by a Stenax Task Force and had to pull back, ceding the front.
