I just use it the way i was taught. (before syrena :p) If there is a standard form we are suppose to conform too, please let me know...Moza Ferorn wrote:Alkur isnt the only one who does it right or well. Rash does it very nicely. We all cannot RP the same way, nor can we from our selves to do the exact same things. I have displayed images before. Youre right, its not all about talking, but not everyone talks.Vantus wrote: Besides, out of all the people i've recieved Telepathy messages from - Alkur is the only one that knows how to do it as it should be done. (In my opinion of course!).
But I agree, if you spend your whole time on the server in a telepathy conversation, sitting in a corner somewhere, you are as good as AFK.

Well, the way I look at is this: it's easier to send a telepathic message constituted by images, sounds and feelings than it is to send one constituted by actual verbal words. You CAN send verbal telepathic messages, but generally speaking, they're not complicated: only a handful of words, at most. That noted, as we saw in JKA and KOTOR (and, yes, noting those are games), telepathy can be used more extensively (e.g. Kreia and Kyle Katarn both had conversational use of telepathy). That may very much be a function of higher-level telepathy, but verbal telepathy can still be used at the lower levels.
It depends on your focus. Someone doing so extensively will be able to send more detailed messages, but less focus means a lower form of telepathy - and it's easier to project images and the like, given that it's also a function of the Mind Trick, so people will be better at that than at verbal.

And so those who are good at it simply /tell ^3 rather than making it a universal feature simply for people who can't be bothered to write extra characters to role play realistically. It depends on your focus. To choose doubt as a philosophy of life is akin to choosing immobility as a means of transportation.

^5* my mistake.
It's literally a convenience thing, more than anything else

Which functions in more or less the same way, surely?
If I hit my 'i' key I enter message mode 3. If I press ^5 I then have telepathy going.
If I use /tell ^5 I can use telepathy on anyone.
If you bind a key to /telepathy then all you're doing is bypassing bringing up the console. I'm not sure it adds to the role play and it seems to be a purely convenience issue.
I don't see the need to make something that is used incorrectly or overused simpler when it is quite simple as it is.
I believe Soh's answer was pretty definitive anyway.
