Impact damage

Post by Shandrila Simbul »

I'm not sure if someone has already suggested this, even though I know its been talked about, but for some time now, especially during spars with random people, I've been getting thrown right into walls, and big stone pillars.. I'd like to see me getting penalized somehow for it, say getting hurt for smacking head-first into a wall? Maybe this could be done, i'm not sure.

Anyone think this is possible?

I'm near enough certain this has been suggested before but to be perfectly honest I can't recall the outcome. If this is still under debate (and possible) I think this would be a nice and realistic addition to RPMod.

Of course, you'd have to question why someone using Hold 3+ could throw you into walls on several occasions in the same move (let's face it, we just need a single wall to bash you against it 3-4 times before we drop you) and yet not kill you or give you anything more than a few bruises. If you add impact damage, it'd have to be realistic. And, frankly, if you're being thrown at a duracrete wall by the same person who can move tons of permacrete blocks with the same move, the fact that you managed to not break something on impact would be pretty amazing.

That and there'd be very little reason to spar Master Alkorda anymore ;) Then it's less a test of lightsabers and more a way of determining how long you can last without breaking any bones.

Of course, during single player, with grip 3, you can use it to 'smash' your foes into other foes or walls, down a huge hole, or even little spikes on a certain statue, and the effect is quite punishing, to say the least.. That just means you have to be even more careful as a Jedi to not hurt anyone, does it not?

Why give a kid a loaded gun, set him up in a field infront of a bench with empty cans on it, then tell him he's not allowed to use the gun?

Because prevention is better than cure!

Where I think the idea would be one of those "fun for a couple of weeks" sort of things, I can see it getting more complaints and people's backs up.

Don't get me wrong, in Single player I did this pretty much all the time and loved it!
However to see people with Force Hold 3+ just grab and shake their mouse around like they're playing smack-a-mole, while the poor victim dots around the screen hiting everything solid in his path until he/she is KO'd...

No thank you.

Some of your posts make me feel like Rash... rororor?

I asked for this like a year ago I think. Obviously I'm for it. It's completely realistic, and I would love to be able to do this. Plus, think of the *other* uses it could have. You throw a crate into someone, it does damage, you push someone up in the air, they hit the ceiling, it does damage. It's a great idea and I am 2000% for it.

Of course some limitations depending on the level the jedi´s push level is right?

If people can RP, then they wouldn't do that. They might find themself in a hard situation and pick up someone to throw them against the wall, but really it shouldn't be a problem in RP.

Also, isn't there the point of being able to do what Reborns do? Gri-PUSH! Or does that not work?

Sadly, although most actions in Spars can be corrected by a sly bit of RPing afterwards in which to correct yourself, RP and combat rarely combine at the same time.

However!! Seeing as the support for this is unanimous, I stand down. :)
