Even though the blade of a lightsaber has no mass, there's something to do with the field-arc (cant remember the specifics) that makes a lightsaber surprisingly difficult to handle effectively and swing precisely. As such you wouldnt get kids of around 5-10 really making the swift, precise motions that are part of the Light/Blue stance.

Yellow/Medium was the standard for both JO and JA and agreed, on an IC/RP standpoint, yellow would make more sense being the first stance you learn as it is precisely that, a balanced and not specific stance. On an OOC view i can see why blue/light is where it currently is, being so unfavoured by the vast majority of JEDI (simply due to its lack of damage for some reason).

I'm not entirely sure if i want a shake-up in the current lightsaber stance system or if indeed it's entirely necessary. If anything blue or yellow should be the stance EVERY new Initiate should be taught while the other stances are open to learn later on by choice rather than having to go through them ALL to reach Desann's stance...assuming that's the one you're after.

my opinion, we should start with medium, and make the other levels so that you can choose them the way you want.

For example, we start with medium, then we earn second level and we want red first, then we are in third and we have to learn blue. For the next two levels, we could make all stances available in any order you decide, but you must choose only two of them. Therefore, for the fourth level you can spend on Tavion, Dessan, Dual or Staff. You pick up the one you like, and the same goes for the fifth level.

That way, you learn the stances you want first, and you learn 5 of the 7 available. (anyways, how would even a master learn all existent forms? :P)

Or we could simply Rp properly and not swing our saber like Yoda? A bit of /emknockdown and /rpdropweapon along with some minor swings up until we generate enough Rp to actually perform most moves should suffice.

Moreover, the "apparent weight" of a lightsaber comes from how you grip the hilt, I believe.

Just a quick note Ruluk that you might want to edit your signature size. It's rather huge. You can find a means of doing this easily, here.

I'm still suggesting blue stance first. The point about being a Jedi is being as versatile and well-adapted as possible. Everyone can forsee the blue stance becoming vastly un-used if there's a choise on not taking it, and that'd be a waste I find.

what about a new stance for younglings/padawans? something with small and not-so-fast slashes?

Of course, there is a probability that this is impossible without replacing an existing one. :(

Ì'm just saying that there's nothing wrong with the current set-up. As mentioned before most people see blue stance as an embodiement of Shii-choo, and you might as well keep it. Point is that younglings don't really KNOW how to use it initially, and learn to optimize their motoric skills with blue over the years, knowing exactly how to weigh the saber. But that's just ideas.
