It's cool for beginners work, especially in GIMP (I'm assuming you're using that because your last sig contained a default pattern from GIMP).

I'm personally not a big fan of large sigs, in my opinion my own is pushing it's boundaries....but everyone here has huge ones. lol go figure.

What font are you guys using??? The one that's like basic but english.

dafont me.

Aurebesh or something?

As someone with an aurebesh S in my sig (it's my name) I can tell you it's not that.

Oh, I thought we were talking about Ethan's stuff, yeah, it looks like Mazik's sig is Aurebesh. Sorry, misunderstanding.

I wouldn't say the Gimp is strictly for beginners. In my opinion, the free program can be just as good as photoshop or something you have to pay money for. The features are all there and is very handy for, what I use it for, upping the quality on texture's via bump mapping or other means.

So if you're looking for something photoshop-ish, definitely go for Gimp but don't feel like you have to upgrade if you acquire more experience, because you're really not getting a whole lot more with the mainstream programs.

Got a question, Andrew...you ever actually use Photoshop, Corel? I have Photoshop, and I've used Corel and GIMP, GIMP is what I started with. GIMP may be good, and it's not just for beginners you're correct, but you still get quite a bit more with Photoshop and Corel then you do GIMP. If you didn't, you wouldn't be paying $300+ for a copy of Photoshop. They don't just charge that much for no reason...look deep into the programs first. Photoshop offers you a LOT more then GIMP does.GIMP is good for being free, but Photoshop is still a lot better...more options.

Also, I love the font in your signature, Tomoran. Always wondered what font it was until now.

I would love to get photoshop. But there is NO WAY I will EVER pay over $60 for software.

I didn't mean gimp was for beginning, I was referencing the fact that he was using GIMP, nothing more, lol.

As far as its capabilities, I've seen soem great designs from it, but I prefer photoshop.

Here are a few cool resources for those of you looking to create an artful depiction of the JEDI universe.

"Aurebesh" by David Occhino

This is the essential Aurebesh font used virtually everywhere. Variations exist, but this has set the standard for some time now.

Dafont

Dafont has an incredible selection of free fonts available for download. There is sure to be one that suits your taste and style here.

BlendFu

BlendFu has brushes aplenty available in both Photoshop and GIMP formats.

Complementary Colour Swatches
Complementary Colour Swatches II

Investigate 'swatches' (not the timepiece) in both PS and GIMP to find many color pallets and complimentary color combinations that you can use to create a more visually stimulating piece. Some folks out there have put together sets of these for your convenience.

Last but not least, remember that good art isn't always done the first time around. Remember that you will make a lot of stuff that you aren't satisfied with before you make something shiny and pretty. Don't be discouraged, it's a part of the learning process.

Now keep up the work, and keep the art coming!

Gimp was developed by ex-Photoshop developers who wanted to assist in an open sourced variant of it. It has 90% of the functionality that Photoshop has, while also containing custom python based functions for emulating some Corel content as well. If you own Photoshop, you have payed 300+ dollars for marginal increase in options you didn't even bother specifying.

Photoshop has a lot to offer, some things do exist that Gimp doesn't have, but like everything else on the open source market... it won't take long before it's emulated.

Anyways, everything that photoshop performs can be written in a python plugin by any user. There are plenty of shops that are open to the artists that use gimp because in the end, particularly the technical scale of the art issued is best imagined by the artist and not the tool.

You guy sare misunderstanding my request :p

I already have Aurebesh-I'd like the font that we use to look kinda like basic but rather is actually english. Like on the main page wehre we have 'JEDI Order" or whatever, its used in the map alot too.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that the sub-text on the main page is actually, still Aurebesh. The letters have just been carefully selected to make it look like English letters. :)
