Species system
This is just a thought I had, after reading the comments in this suggestion, an attempt to link some of the suggestions mentioned here.
In the case of a HP/FP XP system, why not simply drop the species system, make a mulitplier for levels and class and require the council/someone with authority and knowledge about species to decide whether the stats you desire are acceptable for your species and then allow unlimited personalization.
For example: Joe wants a Wookie guardian with 249 base HP and 120 FP. The multiplier for level 5 guardians is 1.2 for HP and 1.05 for FP, so Joe's Wookie will have, by the time he hits level 5, 298 HP and 126 FP. The council accepts this, because Joe's Wookie is really strong.
Jim wants a Ewok consular with 403 base HP and 503 FP. The multiplier when he hits level 5 is 1.05 for HP and 1.2 for FP, so he would have 423 HP and 603 FP. The council denies this, because Jim's Ewok is not as physically strong as the Wookie, so they tell him that he needs to modify the base HP and FP to something more fitting. Jim changes his Ewok to 120 base HP and 249 base FP instead, and now the council is happy.
Don't put too much into the values, they were just examples.

All this has become so evolved, hacked up, and spit out again to the point that Gabe's original idea has become some mutant. Honestly, the idea is very nice, but in my humble opinion the system we have is fine. People have expressed some dissatisfaction with it, but I must profess that most people would not want to start a riot if we simply stayed with it.

I agree. It's simple, and that's how it should be.Jamus Kevari wrote:All this has become so evolved, hacked up, and spit out again to the point that Gabe's original idea has become some mutant. Yeh your right, i was just venting some thoughts after reading the original posts. I don't mind the current system. All I'd rather see is it incorporated better in the RP. Currently we don't really have anyone who is a consuler or a Guardian. The lines between them have blurred. I'd rather see people RP as their 'rank' instead of having guardians with consular force regain and vice'a'versa.Jamus Kevari wrote:All this has become so evolved, hacked up, and spit out again to the point that Gabe's original idea has become some mutant. Again, like I said in one of the other posts, this is a player issue not an issue of the system. The current system isn't bad, I just think it could be used better.

If you turn off water damage, I believe that's it brings more of a"pro" than a "con," in that your character doesn't have to worry about dying from drowning. Meaning your character can stay longer in the unreal water surroundings in the game.Arikakon Genkal wrote:Can we just get water damage turned off, at least? Please? And then use the honor system so that the nonaquatic species can't hold their breath as long or something? Pretty please?
I remember having trouble chatting while trying to keep my character alive in the temple's lake. If water damage is turned off, you wouldn't have to worry about your character drowning at all.
But of course, you'd still have to RP realistically about which species can hold their breath longer than others.
Unless your character had one of those under water breathing devices like the one in Episode I, where the two jedi were swimming to the Gungan city.
This can bring more possibilities for missions! Maybe an investigation to a creepy abandoned underwater facility or just an under water swim
trip to the Gungan city!

I don't need you to believe in me to make me know I'm worth believing in.
I can stand my own ground & stand proud on my own two feet.
I don't need to be apart of someone else to be complete, what I really need comes from inside of me.

Wow, okay, this is WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY off topic and I don't even know wth half of you are talking about.
Please, again, no more discussion unless it directly relates to ideas/suggestions about the proposition for a species system.
That being said,

I have no idea why you still think that being a human in a species system would make you inferior. That's like saying that Sentinels in the current system are inferior. There would be no inferior species, just different sets of pros and cons, exactly like the current system, except that a species system would settle the pros and cons by SPECIES rather than some gimp system developed for PnP and KOTOR.Vantus wrote:I just like to know that i'm forced into an inferior position by race and I can infact change it if I want by using my XP.

.
If someone is a Firrerreo he should:
edit Biology and appearance
They resembled Humans, but had two-tone hair and nictitating membranes protecting eyes that were able to see into the ultraviolet range of the spectrum. They also had the ability to heal quickly, able to survive even a direct blaster shot if the damage didn't harm anything vital to the heart or brain. In addition, some had gold-colored skin, which would turn silver when angry or frightened. The species also had highly developed canine teeth and were extremely long-lived compared to baseline humans.

Hey there everyone!
Being the one that devised the original G/S/C system, and that has been revamped by Corinth, I think it should put in my 2 credits...
I do believe there should be an HP and FP cap to prevent people from getting like.. 400-500 HP.
The game's cap is 256 for both HP and FP. Unless that has changed, no one can be higher than that. And since 256 is ugly like Gab... a Rancor's face
Soh and I decided to cap JEDI at 250 for looks.
The original concept was to have a few things that currently aren't in RPmod, one being the Physical Abilities : Endurance, Constitution, Will, etc to affect HP, HP Regen, FP, FP Regen, dmg, stamina (drowning) and the likes. Each would have 5 levels, like Force powers. Level 1 of Constitution would grand a 1hp/20 sec idle, level would be something like 1hp/15 sec idle, and so on, until Lv5 is 1hp/5s, idle, crouching or walking. These are just examples.
That added to my KOTOR-like templates, which was setting all powers to one set cost (95xp), and it would grant 2-3 powers throughout each level.
A Councilor would have access to mind abilities (FP, FPR) earlier than a Guardian, but would lack on Physical abilities (HP, HPR).
Thus, it would have been still a choice to put points in either a Power or a Skill, since they'd share the same XP pool. But ain't that the point of RP?

On another note, for the specie system, in the LARP I go, all species goes with the same layout, more or less :
* One Specie Trait (like Ogres have a +3 Chest HP)
* One Specie fault (Ogres can't be healed in anyway)
* One Specie Skill (like Ogres have Cannibalism)
And, for humans? They get the average, no restrictions, and +5 base XP bonuses, that allows to buy skills that are in average 3 XP worth.
Enjoy, and great ideas pushed so far;
