Sounds good.
Nah.. it only will make even harder to me get Desann.. lol
Anyway.. I think the only thing that shouldn't follow straight line progress is saber styles. It could be slightly different like buying a specific style (that could be unlocked by another or level or rank).
It could be somehow a progression tree of styles or even buy each style according your need, level and ammount of XP, instead of buying every level to gain the one you want.

That would be fun if its possible!

Partially it's possible.. has been done on OJP.. we could just get rid off the saber fighting style and stict with the buying styles separated.
Also.. we could make avaible DUAL and STAFF style and then it would need no *.sab modifications to get those.

Desann style knocks down anyone in two well placed swings tops, it's my 'win' button if I ever get frustrated with anyone.. there for should be Offense five. Tavion is fast and good.. but has nothing close to the damage desann does.

It sounds bad, very very bad if we're forced to buy blue in order to get red. It's not very logical, why should they both be in the same progression tree if they're so very different?!
If you could transform stances in a manner similar to OJP then perhaps...but one should note that OJP has many animations for each specific style (Makashi, Soresu are different than base-animations I believe) and they wouldn't work for base-style-combat.
Don't fix what's not broken.

I don't think it's about something which is broken, it's about something people seem to believe is illogical. Can't really be solved in a proper way right now, so you're forced either way to spend points to get to red. I don't really mind either way on this though.

Aslyn wrote:The only problem with that, insofar as I can see one, is that it'll remove a significant XP-sink (i.e. a mechanism to prompt XP expenditure), since practically everyone hates blue and many now use Balanced as a standard - to give that to them immediately somewhat detracts from the whole point of moving up a level. If everyone's happen with Yellow, why bother spending to levels, 2 or 3? Everyone starts with Offense 1, so there'd actually be little to no reason to bother spending anything on Saber Offense ever again, unless you want red (and wouldn't be too shocked to see that suggested as Offense 2 instead of 3).
I aree with this.
I'd support the yellow attackk 1, blue attack 2 because blue simply involves a lot more movements, spins and what not but- I don't think it should be changed because yellow does
a. more damage.
b. is generally more offensive
and c. yellow is something to work for, something you want to get. blue on the other hand- not so much. Sure it's useful and I'd use it anyways, but many people probably don't agree with that. basically what Aslyn stated.
So, realisticly - yes, for in JK3? don't think so.

Blue for attack 1 is fine for me, the stance as whole and its movements are much more elementary, not mentioning its efficacy. In the end my opinion is that Blue stance gives a better look of the form Shii-Cho for those who are at their first approach with lightsaber spars, that's why I'm all to keep it as it is.
( Shii-Cho is the basic form. It has a combined offensive and defensive made up with
simple moves, as it's the form that most of the beginners use without even being aware. )

After giving reading thourgh all of this a half hearted try:
For RP purposes I think gaining yellow before blue makes sense. Its easier to get a hang of than blue, but more difficult to master fully.
For OOC purposes. Blue is more difficult to become good with than yellow, by skipping using the blue stance for the first months of your training the already sinking dueling standards of JEDI will plunge even further.
Blue is the fundament which we have always based our saber training off of, as such I am in favor of keeping the system unaltered for now.

I agree with the point about blaster deflection Nivek made earlier but otherwise I actually prefer the system the way it is currently. Although it wouldn't effect me anyway now, I still think yellow is something we should progress too instead of from. I like to gain things as I go up a skill tree. It would feel somewhat of a waste of XP points if I had to use them for blue stance. Buuuut that's just me.

From a purely RP stance (pun intended), I don't think anyone in their right mind, particularly younglings, should or would be swinging a lightsaber around that fast soon after receiving it.
Just my two cents.

Well, the point is that a lightsaber has no mass on the blade, only the hilt has weight. And younglings, being overeager, might as well be better at adapting to swift slashes than to making them slower with like medium stance. That's my two cents.
