Even though the blade of a lightsaber has no mass, there's something to do with the field-arc (cant remember the specifics) that makes a lightsaber surprisingly difficult to handle effectively and swing precisely. As such you wouldnt get kids of around 5-10 really making the swift, precise motions that are part of the Light/Blue stance.
Yellow/Medium was the standard for both JO and JA and agreed, on an IC/RP standpoint, yellow would make more sense being the first stance you learn as it is precisely that, a balanced and not specific stance. On an OOC view i can see why blue/light is where it currently is, being so unfavoured by the vast majority of JEDI (simply due to its lack of damage for some reason).
I'm not entirely sure if i want a shake-up in the current lightsaber stance system or if indeed it's entirely necessary. If anything blue or yellow should be the stance EVERY new Initiate should be taught while the other stances are open to learn later on by choice rather than having to go through them ALL to reach Desann's stance...assuming that's the one you're after.
