I don't really think Feksk was -that- corrupt, seeing as Gabe did serve him as a military Advisor or something around those lines, I think the main reason to why Gabe killed Feksk was because it was to bring a quicker/immediate end to the war and (I think) felt guilty about the whole war.

More or less. But Gabe himself was also corrupt with the Dark Side. Fessk was using him as a puppet to bring a "Means to an end" to his enemies. So, once Gabe saw the light, he killed Fessk to end the war.
