Headswapping Code

I was looking around the JKHub forums just now and stumbled across this:

http://jkhub.org/topic/2480-sp-customisation-stuff/

He says it's GPL, the only thing is we'd have to make a custom .exe for it probably. The point is, it's code that allows us to have the game put body parts from one model onto another one without having to worry about actually modeling or weighting or anything. There's even compatibility for lightsabers. If we can get his permission to the source code and build it into RPMod, we wouldn't have to bug Delmi ever again. Think of all the new and different models!

EDIT: He released the source code as part of the OpenJK project, here's a link if anyone else wants to look:

If it's truly possible, this'd be a phenomenal boon...

I'll say, that's a fantastic find and for it to only be noticed a year after being posted it is a pity as it could have been potentially added in the latest release a few months back.

Still, good find!

If this can be done, it has my full support.

Tested it out last night, single player proof of concept with the Raiden model from JK3files, skinned because I was going to use it for my last update and then didn't:

Since the source code is all there for general public use, and it shouldn't conflict with anything we have already, Soh should be able to just shove it in without much hassle. Though I'll let him speak for himself on that one =P

It seems to be a great idea. I follow that.
