It's not like they didn't marry anyway, even before the Purge some Jedi were known to marry mainly due to cultural reasons or mortality reasons of their species.

When Luke reformed the order he dropped the rule preventing it in favor of it, believing love was something to be embraced.

Indeed, something I agree with for JEDI, but it is something that most people end up wanting - like a check list!
