I've been having some ping issues lately, my ping is usually at around 150-120 normally cause i'm on the east coast, but for some reason I dunno why but it has been shooting up to 200-500. It's really annoying and messing with my RP, i'm not too tech savvy and I have no idea why my ping is acting up, any help would be appreciated .. thanks!

I had a problem like this on the server recently, but it was my internet. I merely hopped off the server, turned off my router and counted to 10 mississippi.

I'm having sudden surges as well recently that completely pause the connection to the server without reason -- my internet is definitely stable (checked). It's something to do with traffic on the server, I think, feels almost like it's struggling to catch up from time to time. Not sure exactly what's causing it, but just know that you're not alone with the ping spikes. I'm guessing that a simple server restart would fix it, whatever it is.

I've tried everything, that would be the last test, I can't even RP right with this ping issue, it's annoying.

For future reference, the commands below can sometimes help with ping:

/snaps 50
/rate 50000
/cl_maxpackets 100 (results can vary, save this till last).

It's usually best to reduce your maxpackets to around 20-30. Really reduces your ping - both Zander and I can have it reduced down to 0-1 at good moments.

/snaps 20
/cl_maxpackets 20
/rate 25000 ( doesn't do much )

I take it cl_maxpackets changes the periodic data transfer pacing?

What does snaps do?

No idea. I just know it worked. XD
