It is not a secret that JKA's graphics, despite their quality, are a bit old but there is a solution to had a peace of modern effects to it.

I'm not talking about better textures but of post processing filters such as sharpen effect, ambient light improvement... in order to had those effects we will use an injector that will reprocess the image after the game engine.

This little addon is called Reshade : https://reshade.me/ (I've tried sweet FX without success).

It give's you the oportunity to tweak and adjust a bunch of effects through a quite simple interface :

But don't abuse of this addon or your game might slow down drasticaly (depending on your configuration).

Here is a little example of a quick preset I have made :

Other quick shoots I have made using this preset(a bit too dark imo)

Installion Guide :
THe last updates seem to not work with JKA so to install the mod we will have to donwload an older version.
They are available through this link :https://www.mediafire.com/folder/8ar1jh ... Repository or here : https://reshade.me/forum/general-discus ... y-new-host (follow the CLICK HERE link)
- Select the folder Reshade with Framework and download ReShade Framework 1.1.0.7z (the last one)
- In your game gamedata folder check if you have a file named opengl32.dll.
If you have it rename it (example opengl32.dll.old)
- Extract the archive in your gamedata folder.
- You should have 2 more dlls : ReShade32.dll andReShade64.dll
- Duplicate the ReShade32.dll and rename it opengl32.dll

The installation is now complete !

Run the game in windowed mode. When the game launch you should see a message on the left upper corner of the window saying that Reshade is succesfully loaded.
You can now setup your filters by running the mediator.Exe application and in the pipeline tab select the filters you want to try.
Check the filter to activate it, click on its name the change its parameters.

(If it is not considered as flood maybe we can share our presets in this topic ?)

I think I used something like this on my old PC for a while, the trouble with it was it was hard to see in darkened rooms and it was making certain textures rather bright even on low brightness, so I ended up disabling it.

Still that is some good immersive lighting!

Imagine someone has such a baked-potato that they have to run on 640x480 and lowest model and texture settings to pump out an average of 6-20 fps. Are there any options for me that can either boost my framerate, or boost my graphics without any framerate repercussions?

Well, these options exact a small performance hit on my PC, so I am afraid Reshade isn't what you are looking for as far as performance goes....

I lose some fps too with the activated injector. I'd suggest for you to remove all effects and activate them one by one and see which one is the most demanding.

It's also a good idea to setup a shortcut to deactivate the injector ingame so you can use it only when necessary.
