RP aging

I read that initiates start at ages 5-12. When I made another forum post I saw someone who was 27. How does the aging process work in this rp community?
1 real life month = 1 year in rp.
You don't age while a hopeful, it's a good idea to try and keep your age a bit ambiguous if anyone asks how old you are, keep the immersion there a bit.
You can choose the day your character ages, I decided to age Dariun the day after I got initiated. Initiated at 9, and the next "rotation", aged to 10.
It's best that you start out as a child, it'll help you flex your rp muscles a bit. If you want to spend less time as a child, start out at age 9 or 10, you still have that childhood innocence, but you're also getting a feeling of how the galaxy works at that point (of course that's considering your character's upbringing).
