I have come across literature, recently, that speaks of Jedi who had the ability to use the Force to render droids inert and, in some instances, even destroy them. I am wondering how this is accomplished or if a deep technical knowledge of droid inner-workings is required.

In my time as a Jedi Knight, I have encountered resistance from many kinds of hostile battle droids. Notably while travelling with Master Vun. Maybe he's bad luck. Any additional way to defend myself from such attackers would be greatly appreciated.
