On 433.15, at approximately 1500 GST, I was dispatched by the Jedi Council along with Jedi Knights Pent Desh, Donan Healof, and Aren Kelpor to rendezvous with the Galactic Republic Dreadnaught "Stalwart" to assist in its expedition into a nebula known as "The Roil." The Roil is a luminescent interstellar medium consisting of ionized cosmic dust, debris, and gasses that is largely uncharted. The reason for the expedition was to reach a set of coordinates that Knight AyyaGella uncovered in her investigation into the suspected terrorist attack on the planet of Torque.

Knight AyyaGella was present for the briefing. She told us that she discovered the above mentioned coordinates as the origin for a signal that prompted the disaster. After the signal was broadcast, it triggered a catastrophic meltdown in all Industrial Automation brand DE-unit astromech droids on the planet of Torque. This flaw was originally referenced by the manufacturer, who provided a statement to the Galactic HoloNews and issued a recall for all known, affected units. The HoloNews release continue to state the effects of this meltdown "could include a dangerous detonation of the unit, as well as even EMP bursts that could wipe out on-board electronics including life-support systems on freighters." It would apppear this is what occurred on Torque. It is suspected this dangerous subroutine was purposefully triggered by "The Roilers."

The Roilers are an outlaw group that have extremist political ideologies. The apparent objective of the Roilers is to maintain the independence of, or possibly assume control of, the Gordian Reach sector of space. There are two reasons the Roilers are suspected of triggering the incident on Torque. First, the set of coordinates Knight AyyaGella discovered lays deep within the Roil nebula. As the name of their organization suggests, it is believed the Roilers have a base of operations within the nebula. Secondly, Torque is in a period of election. It is believed that one of the candidates, incumbent Senator Kielbras Pol'cal, tends to favor Galactic Republic ideology and membership. Public polling data seemed to suggest Senator Pol'cal was likely to win the popular vote. It is suspected the terrorist attack was to sew chaos in effort to delay Pol'cal's re-election.

Our objective in entering the Roil nebula was to chart a path through the region, investigate the coordinates Knight AyyaGella provided, and reconnoiter the area to determine if the Roilers did have a base-of-operations in the vicinity. The Dreadnaught "Stalwart" was provided for the mission as it is heavily armored and deflector shields are known not to operate at full capacity within the confines of the nebula. Along with the Stalwarts compliment of starfighters, Master Desh brought his personal freighter, the "Coruscanti Dawn," and Master Kelpor supplied a modified Y-wing that has been outfitted with sophisticated sensor arrays.

We rendezvoused with the Stalwart and were received by Captain Canstont Redoubt of the Republic Navy. Captain Redoubt escorted us to the command bridge and showed us to a navigation station that had been implemented for the express purpose of navigating the Roil. Before proceeding into the Roil, I attempted to reach out with the Force toward the astral phenomena. I could only detect the tumultuous energy of the nebula and nothing specific.

We then entered into the Roil. Masters Desh and Kelpor performed numerous, short-jump, hyperspace calculations in order to chart a course through the nebula. Hazards we encountered in the nebula include high-density pockets of superheated gas, planetoids, a sun with an intense chromosphere, and a black hole that sensors indicated was approximately 10 parsecs in diameter. Luckily, with Masters Desh and Kelpor's calculations, we were able to chart a safe path around these hazards. See Master Kelpor's report for specific details.

When we arrived at the given coordinates, sensors indicated the presence of an XQ-series space station. The station had towing rings, likely indicating it was constructed elsewhere and then hauled to that location in the nebula. Sensors also detected approximately two squadrons of interceptors on perimeter patrol around this station. One light frigate was docked with the station. It is unknown if it is operational. Large insignias painted on the outer hull of the space station seemed to match what local authorities have on file for an emblem of the Roilers. As our orders were to simply reconnoiter the area, and not to engage the Roilers, we gathered what sensor data we could before reversing course and withdrawing from the nebula. Our presence seemed to go undetected by the Roilers.

Based on the above, it is confirmed the Roilers have a base-of-operations within the Roil nebula and is reasonable to assume they were responsible for broadcasting the signal that triggered the cascading meltdown of the DE-astromech droids on Torque. It is my recommendation that the Galactic Republic Navy assemble a strike force to engage the Roilers with the intent of capturing the detected space station in order to search it for additional evidence of this attack.

This should be done in a timely manner. It is likely the calculations generated by Masters Desh and Kelpor will soon be rendered obsolete by the natural motion of the astral bodies detected, as well as possible cosmic drift. Also, while it appeared our presence went undetected, it is also a possibility that the Roilers did detect us and made the tactical decision not to react to our presence. As the space station appeared to be outfitted with towing capabilities, it is conceivable it could be moved to an unknown location if a prompt response is not attempted.

It should also be noted that due caution should be employed in sending the strike force, as it is reasonable to assume the Roilers have greater experience in maneuvering and fighting within the confines of the nebula. It should be assumed the frigate detected is operational.

Finally, it is my recommendation to the Council that the Order continue to support the Republic Navy in apprehending the Roilers.

Master O'ren went into great detail in describing what happened during the mission. I find no need to repeat the same details as most were mentioned. Though not so much help with calculations, I was happy to be watching over the engineering side of things.

As Master O'ren I support the Jedi supporting the Republic Navy in this endeavor. I would also like to send the idea of my own modifications that I have installed on my ship - one that helps traverse through a Nebula - maybe it could be applied to this situation as well. Who knows, but I think the diplomacy department or the artisans (both of which I am part of) with the approval of the Council should talk this through.

I concur with High Councilor O’ren and Jedi Knight Healof’s assessment. High Councillor O’ren hit all the high and low points of our mission, and the outcomes.

It is my opinion that the council continues to support the Republic Navy with this endeavor. It is important to build and foster good relations with galactic powers when appropriate, and in this case the Republic Navy, as it directly contributes to the security, the prosperity, and liberty of the inhabitants of our galaxy.

I would also recommend moving swiftly in order to exploit the routes the Jedi Knight Desh and myself were able to uncover.
