...After having lost my saber once, It opened my mind to realizing that I will not always have my saber available to me and thus I am reaching out for a class on hand to hand combat.

This feels like valuable knowledge.

I am interested in this. If all that I get from it is more ways to get range of motion back into my left, I don't mind not being very good at it.
