Floating Objects

Post by Vehn Solo »

Just to follow up on this idea.

Would it be possible to integrate the way you with a lock in battle with, floating an object with the force. For example, you aim at the object and to life it you click, to lift higher you click harder, something like this.

That requires to MAKE all map items controllable, which would require new game engines, physics and tons of scripting.

So no.

Plus, what do we need to move anyways?

I think it is possible to freely move map items without too many changes, provided they are entities. Making them move in a specific way would be quite difficult though.. I'm not sure about all this, but if possible and if I get the time and look into it, I'd rather go for a Grip-like interaction instead of just clicking like in a saber lock.

Now as to what we need to move.. that's an interesting question indeed :)

well it was just a thought, if its not possible then its not, i was just curious

Oh: just to add, like the gravitation gun in HL2, you can throw objects at things or people, that was the main reason that i wanted it. Just so you could throw objects at people

Between the HL2 and the Q3 engine there's a HUGE diference :)
HL2 has one of the best physics engine ever.
