Holograms
I know this isn't right topic but... What about holograms? They are not supposed to be solid, if they're from another planet, but still, training ones should be. Lets imagine situation : I'll be transmitting my hologram from another planet, so can i walk thru the door? I'm just light in this case. Another situation : There will be a training holoprogram, and for training he must be solid. But if he need to recharge shields and 'health' for another training, can he be not solid?
Transparent holograms require shaders, which are a skin-oriented effect, not server-side.
The fact that they're solid is a matter of coding in the game. For example, in JA+ there was an admin command called ghost, where only admins could see the "ghosted" player, and that player could walk through various brushes (pieces of the map) and other players.
While, ya, it would make it really cool and "tip-top" in realism, is it so hard to simply play around it? I mean how often did you see someone standing WITHIN a hologram in SW? When you rely too heavily on game function and mechanics, the RP suffers.

This can also be programmed in the Client directly (with no modification to the shaders), and indeed I tried that but it looked terrible (it's exactly the same if you do it with a shader). So I removed it.Alkaiser wrote:Transparent holograms require shaders, which are a skin-oriented effect, not server-side.
Otherwise, I think it's not worth coding the solid/non-solid thing, as Alkaiser said it's not hard to play around it.

Is there a way we can scale down a person's size as a hologram?
And maybe there should be an account called RPhologram and that would spawn at a holo projecter so that if someone is off planet, they can still attend classes or broadcast a message to the temple
I know in the movies there's a holoprojector at the council chambers, but where else?

I don't need you to believe in me to make me know I'm worth believing in.
I can stand my own ground & stand proud on my own two feet.
I don't need to be apart of someone else to be complete, what I really need comes from inside of me.

Here is the upcoming implementation of holograms in RPMod 0.3.1 :
- Obviously the blue effect stays
- You can't move physically but you can still do the moves where you stand (except jumping).
- The model is scaled at 70% of your usual scale
- You become non-solid (other players can walk through you)
- A projector appears under you and you hover above it (similar to weapons and items placeholders in maps)
- Incompatible with client < 0.3.1 and BaseJKA, you will need to update to version 0.3.1
