Fall Damage

My idea here is:

Instead of taking damage from a fall, you lose a certain amount of FP. The higher the fall, the higher the FP cost. The higher your level the lower the FP cost.

Example: An initiate falling from a height that would cause 5 damage drains half of his FP pool. A Knight falling from a height that would cause 30 damage drains a fourth of his FP pool, and so on.

How the curve should be, costs, etc I leave up to those who didn't flunk math.

Do we still have fall damage? Or is it just because I have Jump 4?

Fall damage is based on Level.

Being level 19. I feel no pain, but if you are a guest if you fall 3 feet your done.

It's because you have Jump 4, Corinth. Jamus is level 17 and he has no fall damage since he got jump level 4.. I'm level 16, and I do have fall damage because I have jump level 2.

I'm sorry to break your fun, but I'd rather keep fall damage.. In my opinion, it's realistic to be hurt when you fall of a certain hedge..

I agree with Asphar.

A side thought:

Is there a way to distinguish between jumping and falling? As a Jedi Master with my ability to jump, I can understand that I wouldn't be hurt by jumping down off of a ledge. But what about if I'm kicked off and fall flat on my back? Surely that would hurt.

Don't know if it can be done, just a thought. :P

Usually, you get more fall damage when you get kicked off, pushed off and et cetera.. Which means that you get more fall damage when you actually 'fall' and not jump off a ledge.

But, since you're a magnificent Jedi Master, you recover quickly while being pushed off, and then recover from your fall without being hurt.. Which is wonderful!

You're supposed to turn in the air and land on your feet.

What kind of Jedi Master lands on his face? SERIOUSLY!? Wait a second here.. nevermind.

I do agree with Asphar also.

If I may...

I like Master Xan's idea, but I agree with Master Du in that fall damage is realistic. What I find unrealistic, is a complete lack of damage in any form once you reach a certain level.

What could perhaps be useful, would be instead of slowly phasing out fall damage as levels increase, instead transferring the damage from HP to FP.

For instance, a guest would fall and receive full fall damage. A Padawan would fall and would receive partial fall damage, the other part being compensated by the Force, which would drain from their FP. A Knight would receive less physical damage, but would still lose FP.

Basically, slowly phase out fall damage as you increase in level, but at the same time, have a fall drain a set amount of FP, which would lessen as your abilities in Force Jump increase.

Just a thought, feel free to trash it or to take it and refine it.

I like this. To add another aspect, I think that if you run out of Force Power, you would then take the remaining damage, as health. Also I think that the FP drain should be at least 1.5 as much, as you would usually get drained from your health pool.

Now I've donated a bit to the refining.

I really like Gabe's idea, but I think it should be 1:1 instead or 150% the damage number.
