Hold Again

I know that we've already made the animation now be the swimming movement, which is great, but I've been thinking about it, and I don't understand why saber goes in when being held. In truth, if that was happening, I'd want my saber out to possibly reach the person. Also, it'd be so shocking, that you wouldn't have time to flick your deactivation.

It just doesn't make sense to me why saber deactivates.

Yeah, I've never figured out why it did this. My best reasoning is that the sabers where activated via the force and not an external switch, thus the sudden surprise of being grabbed distracted you but that seems like a poor explanation.

Well, frankly, I'd be inclined to ask for that to be removed - it's a massive combat exploit, for one thing. All you have to do is use Hold on the other person and suddenly they're prone until they can get their lightsaber switched on again. I'm sure some people like it, but I've seen spars where it's being used 20-30 times, and that's not so much skillful as it is a lame use of a power-based exploit.

I understand the above and your thoughts on it, though it's actually very easy to avoid if you also have hold. Just Hold the person holding you and then you both don't have sabers drawn lol Or push when you can. Not sure how effective push is though, never tried.

In any case saber drawn or not, you with still take damage by an oncoming attack afterwards. Just get better at evasion :p

If you don't like the Force interfering with spars, don't spar with force. Remember, these abilities aren't developed to use against your fellow Jedi, they are to be used against potential enemies etc.

It's a statement to the total control of telekinesis, kind of a “where you going? NOWHERE” type thing.

This ability alone saved my live on Taspir against a Night Sister.
Perhaps someone with a high enough level (2/3) should be able to deactivate someones saber. But it does not make much sense to someone who has just lifted their first apple!

As much as I despise people constantly levitating you in an effort to deactivate your saber then lunge at you... there are actually various ways for you to fight back y'know, such methods include Force Push etc.
I've also found repeatedly bashing the opponants head with a lightsaber afterwards stops them from doing it again.

On a serious note I would kiss the hand of whoever is responsible for it's removal =_o Because it really gets on my nerves watching spars where all they do is levitate-lunge-levitate-lunge-levitate-lunge. The argument would be "Well don't watch then." So I don't, then when I agree to the occassional Force enabled spar... *Levitate Nivek Levitate Nivek Levitate Nivek Levitate Nivek*.

If the whole lower-your-defenses-when-you-get-levitated thing is removed I will be a very happy Zabrak. It makes more sense to keep it activated when levitated thinking about it in an rp sense, someone lifts you suddenly and is holding a lightsaber ready to kill you, well I'll just let go of the switch in shock (fair enough)... then I won't bother igniting it for a couple of seconds leaving you plenty of time to kill me with no real show of skill...
Also if you wanna play it's suprising when someone does it and you let go of the saber... How many times would you have to do it before you expect it? Really? Deactivating your saber whilst being levitated is silly from an ic perspective =_= PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE remove it

:(

Aye. Hold itself is not meant to be offensive, grip is. Unfortunately grip does little damage even at high levels. Maybe we could increase the effect (seeing as HP is doubled, or higher, on some, from base, maybe the damage could be doubled or tripled to make it a worthwhile offensive technique).

I just hate saber going in for the reasons already mentioned. It's cheap and doesn't make sense to me RP wise.

To be honest, yes it can be annoying...But you agreed to a force spar...Counter back...push pull..Something

Agreed.

Alright, now only Hold 4/5 (also known as BaseJKA Grip 2/3) will turn the saber off.
