Would it be possible to implement this in a future version of RPMod?
For those unaware of the feature, it's essentially a first person lightsaber view. The camera is placed in the eyes of the model, thereby allowing full body awareness. You can see your arms, legs, torso, etc as you would in real life. It does have its limitations, but it's fully customisable by the client. First person melee/lightsabers would add to the immersion.

This was possible in JK2, it should be possible now. Soh, what say you?

*uh* -.-
I've personally never liked First person saber weilding action. Feels a little more like a hack and slash, bonk on the head kind of... thing.
Yet again, that's just me. I'd prolly never use such a feature myself but meh, to each his own :p

Its probably a specific alteration to the camera angle, turned into a setting, if you can still see the arms, torso and legs.

What happens when your character spins? (eg, jumping, twirl-slashing)
Does the camera stay static in the direct you are facing or does it move with the model?

Last i noticed they use this at Movie Battles, and asfar as i know the camera is fixed to view forward, so it doent turn along with a spin of a move. Not sure if im right here though.

This could work as a 'awareness' feature. Young students and those not atuned to the force would only have regular eyesight (first person view), trained artists and Jedi would have a heightened sense of awarenes (third person view).
Naturally, first person viewing messes up combat and saber dueling, which I've advocated for on many occasions. But it's worth a thought if the majority here likes the idea.

I agree, as for indilia I would use firstperson until she would be a knight <.< anyways.

Hmm, if it can be done properly, I vote for it. But this might not work with all models, though, unless the camera's position can be altered client-side. It also requires the camera to move with the head, and not just the model - try and set:
Code: Select all
cg_thirdPersonVertOffset 2
cg_thirdPersonRange 0
cg_thirdPersonCameraDamp 1
cg_thirdPersonTargetDamp 1
And run. With Larkit's model, the head gets in front of the camera, which makes it pretty pointless. If it is possible in a reasonable way, I support it though. The best solution I see, would be not to render the model, and setting those cvars mentioned above.

I wouldn't like to see it forced through a game mechanic. My intention was that it would be another customisable option for the player.
As for the customisation, these are off the top of my head some of the cvars OJP has implemented:
Code: Select all
/cg_truespin - controls whether the camera follows spins
/cg_trueflip - whether the camera follows flips
/cg_trueroll - whether the camera follows rolls
/cg_trueguns - use trueview with guns
/cg_truefov - the field of view setting for trueview
/cg_truesaberonly - only see your saber

For sure if THIS is going to be implented it should let you switch between first person and third person holding the "P" (I don't remember the command line) button as for when you are holding a weapon different from bare hands or lightsaber. Forcing first person would be hateful.

I completely agree with Aayla. If it's going to be implemented, please make it a toggle command. I know that when I played MB2, I HATED sabering with first person view. It's just not right >_>
