Basically, I've spent the last five years playing in online RP and have an arsenal of names built up from that time that I made on my own. Most of them are actually assigned to preordained characters-Iverian is, of course, my hero-but I've changed them to match whatever the RP is.
In truth, I've had a story concept in my head for the past year, that I'm still building on daily, and these names/characters are all created for there, then taken to places like this to be tested out and worked on.
I like I and A names like Iverian and Atticus (To Kill A Mockingbird), and often try and make names that reflect that.

It's always fun because Cyril is pretty common in France.Cyril wrote:Cyril is Greek in origin. I liked the name and I was looking for an old, classical name for my character that could pass as a SW name.
I didn't know that originally they were bird women. They are often described as fish-women but the difference lays in antic or medieval interpretation.Syrena wrote:Syrena was created from the mythological creature 'siren', the bird women who used their song to lure men to their deaths.

When Axem found me on a random public server, my alias was Phoenix. When he invited me to JEDI we had to make my name more SW-ish and that's about it. Soh Raun and Kero Zen used that method too. ( And probabli others. )

I got Corinth from the greek city of Corinth (which is where the biblical book of Corinthians originates). As far as Alkorda goes, I thought that the *kor* syllabal sounded star wars-ish, so added others around it.

That may be the most awesome explanation given for a name thus far.Simus wrote:Then I wanted a name that rolled off the tongue. I randomly thought of Cnydaria and thought Simus Cnydaria flowed. For the record, Cnidaria is an animal phylum that includes sea creatures such as jelly fish and cubozoans.
Strange because I never ran into any "Cyril" when I went to France this summer.Phoe wrote:It's always fun because Cyril is pretty common in France.
You make it sound so simple. There has to be MORE to the most famous surname in JEDI.Corinth wrote:As far as Alkorda goes, I thought that the *kor* syllabal sounded star wars-ish, so added others around it.

When I first started playing Star Wars Galaxies, I was told that characters were required to have realistic names within the SW universe and simple internet aliases would not be acceptable. So while my friends and I all brainstormed our names, I came up with this one which is basically a fantasy nerdified version of my own real name. Now I use it in relation to all aspects of SW and other fantasy that I take part in.
The bizarre thing is sort of similar to Raltharon. When I first created the name, it was nonexistent from the internet. Now I type it up in Google and it's all over the place. There's even a version of it on another site that has both my real name and Tythos on it.

I joined the JEDI server as "Padawan" and had to quickly think of a name. Suppose I should have thought about it a bit more before joining. I was originally going to name my character "Venator" which is latin for "Hunter" when I decided it just didn't suit a 15 year old kid.
I played around with it a little. The surname was made up on the spot as well. I'll keep "Venator" for my saber name I think.
In hindsight, the word "Vanguard" ("Avant-garde" in old Anglo-French) which means "The foremost position in an army or fleet advancing into battle", Also manages to fit Vantus very well.

Same here.Vantus wrote:And I always thought it was just "Kevin" backards.Nivek wrote:Nivek is named after a LEGO Figure not a truck.
I started with 'Sarod95' (a gross bastardization of the English language) on the MSN Gaming Zone when JK MP first became popular. Later, after MANY iterations of 'Sarod', I tweaked it to 'Sared'. Before that though Sared/Sared was just a figment of my imagination.
'Kilvan' has its roots in three separate categories.
-Kelvin, the unit of measurement for absolute temperature created by Lord Kelvin in the late eighteen-hundreds.
-I thought 'S.K.' would be a well-rounded pair of initials.
-Derek "Hobbie" Klivian, longtime member of Rogue Squadron and member of Wraith Squadron. While not my favorite EU character, he ranks up there, as well as me liking his name.

My character was actually called Kael Reed when i joined the server first. I've done a lot of writing in the past/scripting and whatnot so I've got a ton of names here and there. Kael Reed was a character in one of my on-going projects. But I joined at the same time as Sebastin did and I didn't like how alike our names were lol. Creed/Reed. So i decided to just use a character name i had from World of Warcraft - Sekura. My Starwars knowledge came purely from the movies before I joined JEDI. I didn't even know there was someone called Aayla Secura.. oddly enough, my mothers name IC is Kayla lol thought that was funny.
but yeh i got Sekura from the old Sin bad movie lol. The bad dude randomly calls out that name while running down a beach or somethnig. It's not spelled the same, just how it sounds when he calls it :p
As for Kaelen.. while randomly RP'ing as a hopeful i decided i wanted Kael as a nickname and just randomly added an 'en' on the end for the hell of it. Liked it and it kind of stuck :p
