Maybe it's just in Greek mythology. I've never heard of a siren as a fish, just mermaids. But when I took mythology in school, they were only described as birds. This was partially why they used songs to lure people in. They were birds. Mermaids had similar traits, such as luring men into crashing into rocks at sea. Sirens were a part of the story of Odysseus. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Odysseus#The_Sirens

And as for the last name, I had taken the the last name of a friend's character from Star Wars Galaxies (Crestrunner.)
What about Crestvari or Krestvari? Where'd you get those?
I was wondering to...
hahahahaha.

Sirens are typically Fish-women. Not from origin though.
I think somewhere down the line people started getting confused between Sirens and "Harpies" so the general myth changed them from Bird-women to fish-women.

Stories say that Sirens would lure sailors to the cliffs where they'd crash on the rocks and drown, then be devoured.

I just sit back and let my mind wander, jot down some names that sound good, then see about mashing some of them together and see what I get. Sometimes other people or things I read will happen to pop a name into my head aswell.

It shall always be, Sy-ree-na. To me.

Loist was the last name of a family of a RP on a chat-line along time ago.

For me it's nearly the same as Ralsheends. I just imagine some names, rearrange some letters and then I have my names. I chose the one that i like best and then I call my character like that.

Larkit. I usually make up names, and later find out which meaning it has (and if it has none - skip it) - sort of "reverse engineering" the name after I make it up.
Lares, the name of the Roman deities or supernatural house-protectors (singularis Lar) make sense in the way I originally pictured Larkit's behaviour and makes up the first part of the name. Kit is not derived from a kit (utility, container, etc.), but the English word kitten.

But, the name is basically just a play on words, so don't put too much meaning into it.

It's most definitely Sai'ree'nuh.

Why? Because that's how you pronounce Syrena.

If you wanted Sai'ren'uh you'd spell it Syrehna. Your fault little lady :)

OR... or it could not matter since there is no audio for JEDI/JKA in that regard.

OR we could respect Syrena's wishes and pronounce it the way she desires, because its the nice thing to do.
