[CLOSED] Vibroblade Seppuku

I noticed while looking through all the sabers today that the Vibroblade, as beautiful as it is, should not be "holstered".

I can confirm this is not a model issue with my character as I believe the same thing happens with Nivek.

I can also confirm that this is not a result of the emote in the screenshot. It goes like this whenever you get yir' fists out.

I would suggest either placing the blade on the back much like the Saber Staff or placing it on the hip with the blade pointing back and down to the ground in usual military fashion.

I had a quick scan through the backlogs of the bug reports and did not see this posted.

I don't have this problem. The vibroblades I know of (vibro, vibro-e and vibro-m) all have the "idleInBack" attribute enabled, and for me they are correctly placed when holstered.

Could you precise which "saber" you were using? and is anyone else able to reproduce the bug?

I will look to replicate this further tomorrow for you Soh when I am home from work. I will try various other player models as well.

Nivek mentioned having the same issue when I told him about it.

It MAY have something to do with the "ja_plus_melee_hands_side.pk3" in my base folder so my character doesn't stand like he's trapped in a chimney.

I also know it's nothing to do with a .holster file because I don't have one in my skin.

As for the weapon I was using, it was the "Vibroblade" saber as found in the JEDIWeapon pack. (I have the latest version)
I selected it from the saber menu as opposed to entering a command for it. It's name was simply "Vibroblade" so i'm guessing the code would be
/model vibro.

Hope this helps Soh.

Hmm, this file is not needed with RPMod, as RPMod does the same in the code itself. It's even completely ignored when you start RPMod with the appropriate shortcut.

Your reference to this file makes me think you were testing the pack on your own server (solo mode). If it was indeed the case, then the "bug" is normal: you can't host an RPMod game yourself for the moment (the server DLL isn't released), so it instead falls back to BaseJKA. And BaseJKA doesn't support "idleInBack".

Bottom line: test in a JEDI server :).

Sure it's not your holster.cfg, Vantus?

I don't think Vantus has a holster..

that said, didn't we have the exact same issue on the galaxy server during Gabes/Moza's last mission? The guards axes were lodged in their boddies.

I'll tripple check in the morning. Sorry it's late.

This screenshot was taken from within the Main JEDI Server before I logged off Lastnight.

Perhaps it's because you use a jk2 model? The skeleton differences may have something to do with it. The same thing applied to that gamorrean skin, and it was a jk2 model as well.

Perhaps creating a holster.cfg would fix the issue?

So I think I've got it!

So okay, typing /saber vibro works perfectly fine!
However, selecting "Guest Vibroblade" from the saber selection menu causes it to stab the user. My guess is that they are TWO different sabers altogether. Looking at the two different swords in game I can tell that /saber vibro is much brighter and "shinier" than the other.

Conclusion so far:

1) It is not a player model issue as I tried various default models such as Reborn and Kyle, plus my model is a JKA model.
2) It is not a "ja_plus_melee_hands_side.pk3" as I tried it both with and without this PK3 in my base folder.
3) It is not a holster issue as I do not have one. (Plus tried it with Reborn and Kyle models which do not have holster files.)

I'm guessing that the "Guest Vibroblade" as shown below, is bugged in some way. I'd go so far as to say there's maybe even a chance it is conflicting with another weapon in the JEDI Weapon Pack. Again... Just a guess.

Indeed! I had completely forgotten about the Guest Vibro, which is part of RPMod. It was used at the beginning to give a weapon to guests, but because of abuse it was disabled.

This one didn't have the "idleInBack" attribute, so I just added it. It'll be part of RPMod 0.4.1.

Thanks for reporting and investigating the issue!
