I was just thinking wouldnt it be more "Jedi Like" if we perhaps push to open a door or push a button on or off? I think, after watching the movies, that not only would it look and be pretty sweet but it would be more " Jedi Like ". Im sorry if there's been a previous thread about this but if not.....
Agree or Disagree?
Is it possible?

This is something that can be set on maps when the map is made. I'm sure it could be done w/ RPMod, but it'd be a lot of work for little benefit, IMO.

As Master Alkorda said, I know it can be done through the map itself.

Well, I just thought it might be a good feature to add if there happens to be a new RPmod later on.

I agree, I think it would be a neat add on ^_^

Instead of "push" per say, why don't we just change how your character moves with the use command so instead of looking like he or she is hitting a button the panel, your character can just hold out his/her hand. I don't know if it would need a lot of programming to make it work or not. I don't know much about that stuff. but the only other thing we might need to do to make it work is increase the distance away from a panel you need to be to open the door.
Gabe is probably right. Probably too much work for too little benefit, but it does sound cool

I don't mind whether or not this is made a possibility, but it certainly should not be made the default, as Simus seems to suggest. I would not call it "Jedi-like" either, although it's certainly something a Jedi could do. Regardless, I think the "Jedi-like" thing to do is press the button...

Yeah, this would just be abused to the point where the rp would be that much less unrealistic.
While we all like small possibilities to make rp'ing more interesting, this one would take too much effort.

Being a bit negative about this Viron, the PAYOUT for this proposal would be something most of us would enjoy, for example opening a door without having to click it,not a door pannel but a metallic door seen on the training rooms.
But yeah you are right about something it would be too much effort for just something really little BUT enojoyable.

Heh i think Corinth hinted in the right direction lol we shouldn't be encouraging such use of the force in any case. As Cyril also says, not very jedi like.
Nice idea certainly but you have to consider also the range we have on push at the moment and whither using it in the corridors will open all the doors randomly. I don't know on this to be honest, just a thought there. I'm also not sure if you can have force activators and push activators on the same mover. I've simply never tried there. If so, you then limit those without force ability from entering rooms.
again, nice idea, not too difficult to do but maybe not for a home map. Mission maps maybe..

it's not even avoiding pressing the "open" button as esentially, this is what Push would become.
I get tried enough as it is being thrown around left right and centre by people's force push and Levitation.
I'd rather this not become the norm.
Plus...... Imagine all the Noise!!

Yeah, I agree with the previous stated above Jedi. It's un-realistic, un-Jedi like, and from what I recall from the movies and some of the books, all/most of the doors only required to walk up on them and they opened. That, or they came with buttons.
You have to remember, IRL your pressing a button, but your character is using the button.
