Kicking

DISCLAIMER: This is NOT the same suggestion as is on page 3
In the single player of JKA, you notice that some NPCs will kick you. They will kick you in the way that you would with a saberstaff, only they have single blades. I want to know if it would be possible to do that. I've long wanted to be able to kick at someone while I'm dueling. It would deal with random offense spam, yet leave you open to attacks such as Medium/Tavion DFA.

Can't say I agree with this one at all. If the kicks work the same way as they do for melee sparring, you'd be instantly floored by one, and not knocked away far enough so as to avoid the consequential kick-lunge movement that is a staple of some servers, and spammed unto death.
Moreover, and here's the thing, there's no open bind available for it. Secondary attack would possibly bind to it, but then what happens if you have a secondary attack such as Saber Throw already active? So even if it could be implemented, it'd probably need a whole independent binding command, or simply be overwritten by Saber Throw.

Hmmm I didn't think about the button binding. Maybe make a seperate style? Like, everything but fast style throws saber, but in fast you kick.
Actually that would fit in to Tavion/Desann styles. Give it to Tavion style. Desann has the red DFA which would easily exploit it, but Tavion can't exploit it cuz it doesn't have the blue uppercut, and the DFA doesn't really hit targets on the ground very well.
But kicking wouldn't be cheap anyway (as long Desann/Strong style doesn't have it), because kicks are easy to avoid. They have small range, they lower your guard, they're slow enough to duck/jump/roll to dodge, and did I mention they lower your guard?

The obvious solution to that would be to have Saber Throw as a seperate power.
To balance the kicking out, it'd make sense to incorporate Offense/Defence levels too. To sucessfully knock down someone, you'd need an Offense level higher than your opponent's Defence level, for example. Perhaps even then it'd require a virtual dice roll of some sort to determine if you're successful or not. Otherwise, a kick would just knock your opponent back.
Or even just eliminate knockdowns from kicking altogether. I'm not picky. I do, however, feel kicking is a more useful secondary attack for the lightsaber rather than Saber Throw.

Well, in that case, it'd be something wholly owned by Guardians or high-level Masters (i.e. those who can be bothered to invest in Saber Offense 4+). Doesn't seem worth adding under those circumstances, since most people that have that level of lightsaber ability usually have at least a basic idea of how to use one, and wouldn't need a kick.

I'm pretty sure this is controlled on a single-weapon basis, in the .sab file.

I believe you're right!
However the counter arguement to this is that Custom Sabers are only granted at Knight Level and to some lucky, lucky, lucky Padawans.
I personally like the idea of incorporating kicks into combat however the Mod already accounts for this.
I've (more than once) got away with putting my saber away and kicking an oponent, then re-drawing my Lightsaber again.
Sure there is the Weapon-change delay but all in all, kicking with a saber doesn't make you any less vulnerable than kicking without one.
I'm not saying it's better this way but it's a clear alternative and from my own experience it works when used at the right time.

imo saber throwing in rpmod is stupid since i almost never see anyone use it. in fact, saber throwing being the secondary fire in general i thought was a bad move on their part when they made JA. if basically turns your saber into a ranged weapon. Not that they can't be used that way in a realistic enviroment, but i don't think it gets enough use to be on the secondary fire.

All I ever see now is Saber Throwing. It's one of the main reason I don't like sparring other players anymore.

As for Saber throw being Alt attack, it's why I don't EVER,
EVER want to take it. Having Saber throw makes Katas more difficult to perform as in JA+ I often had the issue where I'd end up throwing my saber rather than performing the Kata.

I can't stand the move myself but i asure you, it's used a LOT. lol

They should make the saberthrowing like Moviebattles, where it goes vertically and never hurts people very much. That way, it won't be overused and it is easily blocked. Makes it barely used, and therefore feasible as a seperate force power.

I say instead of a kick, make it a backhand like in MB2...or a kick will do, the only times i've seen a kick done with a single lightsaber is when that lightsaber is set to use the staff style.

Reverse-hand combat is an entirely seperate discipline in itself and I personally wouldn't like to see it become the norm.
I don't think any adjustment should be made.
Although i'm not overly fond of all the Saber-chucking, people feel it is worth investing in and I wouldn't want to nerf that or take it away from them just because I don't like it.
As most folks would say: "it's cheap but it works".
