Remote

Double suggestion:

Firstly, please, please, PLEASE can the remote be removed from guests, or anyone who doesn't have a lightsaber, far too many hopefuls make this a really annoying thing to deal with, but I don't want it scraped completely because I like the concept.

Secondly, can the remote be set to hover infront of you, bob gently up and down, left & right etc, subtle movements, rather than have it go in a long slow circle around you as it does now.

Thoughts & comments obviously welcome.

I think this is a great idea if possible, on both suggestions. It can get a little annoying sometimes watching guests running around with remotes buzzing around their heads.

Support much :!:

Definitely support the first one!

Support the second part too but I'm not sure if the trajectory of the Remote can be changed.

However....

Well, since it's spawnable, maybe we could translate it instead into a naturally-bound spawnable NPC focused purely on the individual target, but not 'bound' to them physically, the same way that happens with the remote at current. That way their movements would be entirely unpredictable, and you could alter your distance from the target - hence, making them useful for actual deflection practice.

At the moment, all you need to do is turn anti-clockwise with a slight advance on the remote to be able to deflect absolutely every shot with Defense 1 or 2. Naturally that's even more the case with Defense 3+. Yes, we've got the larger spawnable droids in the training room on the first floor, but anyone that's seen or used the spawnable remotes (::points at Rash::) will know that they are MUCH more accurate, and also single shot, rather than multiple stutter-shot, so it gives you a moment to recover before the next one is fired.

Pretty sure it'd be possible to actually make the remotes useful ;) It's a good idea to have them for training, but the practical applications in their current form is pretty limited. And it'd be nice to be able to get some range on them, too - the orbiting remote doesn't give you much recovery time or practice of timing at range.

I agree with not letting guests have one. I think it should do BOTH though.
Spin around and then have a separate one that hovers still for the less advanced students. Also, I don't believe that rank should affect the option to have it circle of be still, a choice in any instance would be better.

I mostly agree with removing it for guests.

I don't know. I think I disagree with this. I kind of like watching the hopefuls get blasted : )

Great ideas Nivek. The only real comment I'd have is having the remote circling us forces us to keep our focus on it, which I think is good practice since our foes aren't exactly always going to be hovering in front of us. Just throwing that out there :)
