Changes to Force Cloak

If possible, the sound effect for Cloak should be level-dependant on Force Sense. This currently works fine when targeting a specific player with the cursor, but the sound plays globally in the area if an inanimate object is targeted.

If possible, footstep sounds and effects should also be disabled for Cloak level 5, perhaps by tying it to nodraw if no other solution is available?

I agree! But that ought to be consistent for all levels (and I honestly think the sound should be removed completely). Also - is it me or is there a delay? I mean, I hear the initial sound playing, use Sense and turn it off as the other person deactives Cloak, but then a few seconds later, the deactivation sound plays out of nowhere.

I've suggested this several times but it's never gone anywhere. I suggested a system much the same where it is level dependant.

Gets two thumbs up from me

::EDIT::

The deactivation sound you hear is usually me manually deactivating it. If there are others in the area effected by the MT, you'll hear it again once they sense or it runs out, as the sound is global.

I agree about having the sound for activation and deactivation removed but I don't agree with having footstep sounds removed.

There should be an onus on the player to have some level of basic stealth skill if they wish to play a stealthy character. Crouching and navigating around while cloaked is just as effective and requires some effort on the players behalf as it should.

To have a skill completely without counter or downside is a bit overpowering.

That's how I feel.

In canon, cloaking yourself is done through pulling all the sights, sounds, smells, etc from yourself out of the minds of those around you. I can't imagine that someone who has totally mastered the technique wouldn't be able to pull the sound of their footsteps out of your mind.

As far as countering the ability goes, Cloak is offset by an equal talent in Force Sense. I have no qualms about making a technique a bit "overpowered" if it makes more RP sense to do it than not.

*mm* I think Cloak 4 should have no sounds, but still be at a disadvantage point. Like a.. Your good but your not *that* good. Cloak 5 should have no sounds and be hard to sense.
