More advanced /ignore

Hey,

Just thought I'd put this on the table, not exactly the most positive of suggestions... But sometimes it might be a good idea. So, my idea is: An /Ignore command that allows you to ignore only a person's private messages (PMs), if you want it so.

-Ommar

Once again, no negative feelings meant by this.

I support this idea, only it never really bothers me.

I hugely agree on this. Don't get me wrong, I love talking to people, but when I get twenty pointless PMs on the server from the same hopeful, I just feel like being able to block them out so that I can concentrate purely on RP would be useful.

I agree, I have an example from just today for how this could help out.

It's a shame it would have to come to this to be perfectly honest.

I'd feel much better having somebody PM me back saying "Anyway, no more OOC if that's alright" rather than them BLOCKING me.
It just feels a bit unnecessary and harsh and will only brew cold feelings amongst our members if utilized.

I know I would feel quite down-in-the-dumps if I discovered I was blocked because I was annoying somebody. (Not that I often make the first move when it comes to PMing on the server anyway.)

As a feature for RPMod when publicly released - Sure!
As a feature inteded towards JEDI - come on guys....

This is going to sound silly, but back in the day, we had ::JEDI:: tags and ::Meditating:: tags, and I know that isn't going to fit with people with certain names, but if there were a mode that completely ignored any and all PMs from anybody or just certain people and they were flagged perhaps as 'quiet' mode or something ... maybe people would get the idea that it isn't going to be very fruitful to message that person.

Similar to MSN Status Messages, casual messages that consist of Away, Busy, AFK etc. However, I could see some disadvantages as it would be quite easy to abuse this system.. Also how would this conflict with roleplay?

I support ommar's idea. Some people keep sending PM's, some times they are offensive, and they won't stop. Saying something back just provokes another responce, and the council is too busy to investigate EVERY instance where someone wants to act like a ***** on the server.

I support this, I get some pretty weird pm's from hopefuls that I would rather not get all,

Though I don't count out that this could help slightly. Jedi don't ignore the galaxy, they get involved and help to fix problems. How will we ever tell the good ones from the bad if we just set it to /IGNORE?

A good feature for a public mod? Yes. Would I be dissapointed if I saw it being used in JEDI? Yes.

My sentiments exactly. I can't believe that this is actually being supported.

I don't think we need a system for this. Vantus is correct, in my opinion.

As long as we be kind and be courteous and help as much as possible, things should go well. Ask people to stop if you want/need to, but remember to "Be kind, be courteous."

JEDI is a community and family. We all should know how to talk to each other and how to let each other know if we don't want to talk, at least in an OOC way.

Hopefuls make the world go around here. We shouldn't view them as such outsiders, but as people to help and grow into solid members. :)

My Opinion

I do not actually support this, but it's not down to me whether or not it's done. You can just ask people to stop messaging you, and if they're really a pain, if there's an admin on you can report them and we can sort them out.
