Weather/Sound addition

We have sounds for wind, rain, lighting, thunder. Would it be possible to also add in more atmospheric sounds, such as birds or jungle sounds? It would make our environment more realistic.

I'm pretty sure all this would require is simply packaging an extra pk3 of ambient sounds, and then just activating them using /rpsound, though it may not loop, which I'm assuming would be the desire here.

Yeah, looping like the wind sound is what I'm looking for.

Is it possible to configure rpmusic to be able to play two mp3 files simultaneously? If so, we could add the ambient sounds as music tracks and add them on top of other things.

/rpsound is already capable of playing global looping sounds.

However, ambient sounds (what Syrena is asking for) should be location-dependent.. i.e. you should hear birds outside, but not inside.

JKA supports "ambient sound sets", which can be a combination of a background track and random sounds like birds. BaseJKA comes with several interesting sound sets like "rainy" and "windy" (used with weather effects in RPMod), but there is also "yavin_interior" and "yavin_exterior".

However I'm not sure adding a command (like /rpambient) to control ambient sounds is the way to go. As these sounds are really map-specific, the map itself should take care of placing bird sounds correctly, and possibly keep a background ambient sound like "yavin_interior" in our case.

I think she's talking about adding them elsewhere, in other maps, other places. But yes there are bird sounds out in the garden. I usually use RPSound for some sounds but the only problem is it's global.
