Design Statement

I would like to propose that a list of design goals be drafted for the purpose of refrence in this forum. Just a simple list stating "this is what RPMod is intended to do, here are our goals, and this is how we intend to reach them". Using this, future suggestions could go through this list first, match certain criteria, then go on to be posted and discussed.
For instance, if the statement said that "RPMod is intended assist a role-play enviroment", then that would rule out suggestions like "We should make a new gametype like X game has" since that is not one of the mod's goals.
Likewise, by posting a public set of goals and standards, we can foster a new round of ideas to 'fit the mold' of the kind of suggestions that would see more thought with the end goal in mind. Not to discourage lateral thinking, but to set it on the right track and in the right direction.

I'm not a fan of adding SOIs that are meant to hamper creativity. I'm filing this under "Unnecessary" in my opinion box.

I know some suggestions are not exactly what JEDI needs as an RP clan but discouraging people from being inventive and pushing them to following a narrow channel of thought may result in good ideas not being brought forward. Keep in mind also, RPMod will be released to the Public and as such, also needs to cater for others beyond our own clan.
Currently it's easier to say "Yae or Nae" with a reaon for it and close the thread. Regardless of rules, people will still post their suggestions which in turn would be policed and in the end, be right back to what we have now: A section of the forums dedicated to RPMod Suggestions in which the community either offer their support or give reasons why they don't.
In the end, the person that has the final say is Soh because he's the only one that can even make these ideas a reality.

Something a little simpler then. "These are the kinds of suggestions we want more of, and these are the kinds of suggestions we want less of." Something that could be added to the 'Read First' post.

Exactly. As a community, JEDI's input is obviously appreciated. However, the general membership often forget that RPMod is
Soh's mod, not JEDI's mod.

We do? I'm really not sure anyone can dispute that - and we all know that it's wholly up to Soh what gets added and what doesn't. As such, any and all sides of a suggestion or discussion should be heard, such that he can see a) if they have support and b) where the people that use the mod regularly see problems or possibilities for implementation.

Perhaps Soh can make a post in regards to what he knows for sure is gonna be in the next update, because some stuff he doesn't know if it'll be functional.
I'm sort of thinking the same thing Sared is though. We have many many suggestions that are very similar to others, and no one is gonna want to sort through SEVEN pages of topics to check if someone else has already suggested it.
I've always kinda pushed Soh to be a bit more fastidious regarding suggestions. But he's a busy guy.

Open mindedness is next to godliness
