Telepathy

I was wondering if we've ever thought of making using telepathy a little more user friendly by giving it a command, not far off from the /me command or the /tell command. It might be a little more convenient than the extra typing you have to do.

Thoughts?

I think it's been suggested before, and I believe the verdict then was that another command was unnecessary.

All we have to do at the moment is:

Code: Select all

/tell <player> ^5Hello world.
The only extra typing involved is two characters: "^" and "5". With a dedicated telepathy command you'd just be typing something different instead of /tell. For the work involved in adding said new command, it's really not worth it.

Telepathy by JEDI protocol default is done in tells with a cyan color coding, similar to the Force Bond command.

Its simply a matter of proper role playing.

On top of that, it'd support a more widespread use of telepathy. I don't like this suggestion.

You can bind the /Tell command to a key also, I have my private message bound to alt if the person you are talking too is near you.

/bind messagemode3 <key>

Aim, press Key, then ^5 <message>

Doesn't help for a long distance chat mind you but it helps when you can see the person.

You can actually bind it to be person-specific for long distance, too.

/bind <key> tell <player>

We should not have an abundance of people who are overly strong in telepathy any how. It should be RP’d properly to be learned, or very, (and I do mean very) slowly built up over a long while of practice. Would it make sense that you should need mind tricking ability’s before starting to use the ability at all? Mind manipulations aren’t as easy as one, two, three.

I believe that a certain level of Force Sense should be obtained before even *messing* with Mind Trick.

I personally agree with Sasha.
