HP and Shields

Alright, I think I saw something about this in another thread, but I couldn't find it.

I noticed that some Jedi padawans have HP and shields below 100, I once saw someone with 65 hp. Now, I, a hopeful, with no training at all, have 100 hp and shield, as guests do.

If you are a guest it is because (a) you are that, a guest, and therefore not a Jedi, or (b) you are a hopeful, and therefore not a Jedi. Why would guests have more hp and shield than Jedi?

I believe that 50 hp and shields is more realistic and appropiate for the situation, and that would be the standard for every guest.

I agree with you, If I remember, initiates begin with 25/25 maybe we should apply this to hopefuls/guests too.

Heh, yah, I remember when I was initiated and was shocked that all of a sudden I had literally half of the hp/sp I had as a hopeful.

JEDI is more than just about hp/sp. In fact realistically we should be rping being down or injured when we take a hard hit even if the sp/hp don't reflect as such, but I agree that it would be helpful to have game mechanics be a little more realistic in this sense.

Though honestly hopefuls never have weapons so it's unrealistic to think their advantage in health would be a serious threat in anything other than a melee spar

I think that this would require an account for each guest/hopeful, for every and each that came and left, there would be too many junk accounts I think.

Unless the 25/25 would be possible to set to a basic 'not logged in' state?

(Is this sad I edited this entry like 6 times?..)

I don't really see this as much of an issue. After all, when you get initiated, your HP/SP may drop, but you also get a lightsaber! What self respecting initiate is going to get into a scuffle with a guest when they can have a proper sparring session like the big boys and girls? :P

This was discussed before.. I agree with the suggestion, but for the moment there is no way to do it. It's on the TODO list and will be in a future RPMod version.

Exactly the point I was trying to make, except made better. Thanks Nira. :)

Hopefuls and guests aren't here to grapple, kick and roll about on the ground in spars... are they?
I could've sworn that we didn't have a sparring test before initiations.

*Takes his tongue out of his cheek*

While trying to be silly, I'm also trying to make a point. If you really want to have unarmed combat, there are plenty of JA+ servers to attend.
If Soh does change the guest/hopeful HP levels, I'd prefer it if they were lowered. The high level accounts already have enough HP.

I agree with you because I was suprised when I saw initiates start off with less health then initiates. It may not be so useful because hopefuls aren't out fighting.

Atrux has 114 at level 14...so no complaints here.

Although I do agree with the suggestion, there's no reason for the hp level of a guest to change:
1.) They have no weapons and wouldn't be able to defend themselves if attacked. (even though they would never really be attacked by anyone other than a crazy guest.)
2.) They have no force training so if someone jumps off the temple, for example, IC wise they would most likely die.

Just me though.

I've seen stuff like this said a lot in this thread, so I'm going to clear the air with it.

A lot of hopefuls *are* fighting. I can't tell you how many times I've been challenged by hopefuls and other guests to melee spars, and seen them sparring each other. It's within all of our rights to say no, and sure, they shouldn't be fighting as much. However, it's a little naive to say that hopefuls aren't fighting.

Just some misinformation that I felt the need to clear up :)

Well correct me Olim and Ruluk if I overstep myself but Olim, Ruluk, and Baelin are all (or were in Ollim's case) impulsive and ready to fight if someone makes them angry. Baelin and Ruluk get into fights countless times for no good reason. Maybe not so much for the older hopefuls like Agitt and Taden, but kids definitely need lower health.

My €0.02:

If there would be a way to customize health to a certain account, calling it value X for example and from level 2 the value increases with two naturally everytime, then it'd be great. The account customization would allow more realistic health levels to be given to certain characters, like a wookiee. So perhaps a wookiee would be the strongest at 75HP standard perhaps, as we assume that hopefuls are young pups at least. Again, just my €0.02

That's the species system. It will be applied at...some point in the future, I believe.

And sometimes it gets boring for the hopefuls, so they engage in some sparring to pass the time. I do not think we should prevent this, given that no initiate/padawan would spar them.

Plus people call it something else such as messing around, playing, pushing each other over. You might see a Hopeful taking another ones face to the knee and swinging the persons body over their shoulder, but really, we all know that's not what is actually happening.
