Saber System

Okay Im sure some Odis have heard of/played OJP, or MB2 before. Lately Ive been thinking of trying to get up sone saber skills ( I suck ), and I got mad at Base JKAs remidial style. What Im suggesting is kinda like a manual block system but more. It would be cool if we went to an OJP sysem (look it up) where we learn the REAL forms and manualblock

Before you say this I am aware of these problems : Swtiching xp, learning a new system.

Wouldn't it be worth it if it adds to realism?

Questions, Comments, Concerns?

I can already tell this will be shot down. It's been suggested many times, many ways, and not many are fond of it. It'd be interesting sure, but I dunno about how it'd work into RPMod.

Master Raun has stated numerous times in the probably 20+ threads in this section that he will not alter the saber system that we currently use. I don't mean this in a negative way, but it'd be a good idea to browse the board before posting, so that you'll know your topic hasn't been brought up before :)

I looked on the last manual block but I went ahead on suggesting this because this also had to do with saber forms, but ah well, I wxpected it to be shot down but hey, it was worth a try.

Sure, it's logical, but we need to Roleplay certain things out more. (guilty of this myself)

Every time I hear a suggestion for changing the current Light saber combat system, I die a little inside.

Trust me. Three hundred other poeple have thought of this. I did myself. I'd be in JK-RP but they suck at roleplay so I quit in like a day. JEDI is unique in it's own way. Nobody(that controls the clan) would think of changing this. MBII saber system is weird. I don't get it. lol

Yeah, me being one of them. It's even curious that every time answers seem more synthetic in content. :P

I still really, really think that what I suggest could be done. Add the animations of mblocking. Then make a command to activate mblocking, the way the MBII one works, with direction influencing the animation. This DOES NOT change defense or attack with being implemented, as it is a separate command, only for the purpose of animations, and this IS NOT needed for dueling, as you can duel normally without using it. This would probably only be used for absolute RP reasons, like RPing training with the lightsaber or some organized RP duel. Is like adding a new emote, if you want it in those terms.

For everybody else "Shun the non-believers, SSSSHHHHUUUUNNNN" (If you watch stupid youtube videos, you know where that quote was from :D)

I've found about 4 topics regarding manual blocking. I wish there was a way to put the concept to rest, as its been rebuffed at all turns.

JEDI will keep the base JKA combat system--perhaps with a few minor alterations to annoying features--but it will remain largely unchanged due to the notion that while JEDI fosters the ideal of pretending to be a Jedi will have some of their traits rub off. But also, that it is a place for people who just don't want that aspect alone, but also want to play the game for what it is supposed to be.

If you want to have combat like MB2 or some other mod... go play that other mod?

This is not going to happen. We need to make suggesting a concept for the n'th time a crime, in these parts. Consider this topic done.

...until the next hopeful re-suggests it. =_O
