I heard from a friend about ::JEDI:: , thought it would be cool, tried it, and I love it.

I have no rp experience besides ::JEDI::, though I'm sure you're not suprised :D

In Middle School, when I would spend evenings on AOL, I would go to chatrooms that were roleplay oriented. Of course, as a teenager I had an insipid and boring character, stuffed to the brim with cliches and my ability to write was terrible at that time. This must've continued for maybe two years.

In Starcraft custom maps, where players played what the map considered Dungeons and Dragons (though it was more a case of 'spawn a bunch of stuff and then run an adventure while providing story-dialogue') and I imagine I played these maps for a bit until someone clued me in about MUDs.

I played MUDs for about five or six years. They were all roleplay-oriented and I experimented with characters and learned a good bit about expressing actions through text, character ideas and the importance of strengths and flaws, among other things.

Then I was out of it for a long time while I was at college. Once I graduated, I decided to try JEDI out to see what it'd be like. As a result, you all get to see my horrible writing and cliche-filled characters. Enjoy!

I remember being on the old AOL chatrooms during the mid-late 90's, finding groups that played stuff like the Old World of Darkness games, y'know? Stuff like Vampire: The Masquerade and whatnot. Me being the little snot-nosed brat I was, wanted to get into them and learn how to play them.

And then, a year or two later, I stopped, I was only about 11, 12, I think this was around 2002, 2003 or so, anywho, I bought Baldur's Gate/Baldur's Gate II from a friend around this time and found out about AD&D, started playing that for a while before learning how to play 3e and 3.5e.

During that time, I was also getting into online RP again, I remember Habbo Hotel, the horrible RP on Habbo Hotel actually helped me get ready for this here, mainly because it opened my eyes to the bigger part of Star Wars, prior to my experiences on Habbo Hotel, I didn't know jack about the extended universe, I had only seen the movies (Except for Episode 3, it didn't come out yet.)

Anywho, Another year or two later, a friend of mine gave me JK:A, and I got into it, mostly did sabering for a while before finding ::JEDI::, I was intrigued, and created my first character, and the rest is history.

Oh, how time flies! Seems like just yesterday I was playing Dark Forces II on the old family computer.

I picked up Outcast on a whim one night at a Best Buy when I saw it on the shelf. Dinked around there for a few years, order hoping left and right. Was in JSA when it started, if anyone remembers them, lol. Ended up in the Ghost Jedi, but it sadly died off a while later. Ended up following a friend to some server I'd never heard of before named ::JEDI::. Hehe, I remember back in those days when ::JEDI:: was all about sabering, not RP'ing. :P

Couple months later, ::JEDI:: took a poll and based on the results, ended up moving to JA, so I snagged a copy of that so I could tag along. Been joining and leaving ever since, lol.

Sadly, the RP bug's left me. Tried a few times to return to the in-game ::JEDI:: community, but no luck. Still lurk the forums daily though, keeping up-to-date with everything. :)

P.S.
Overjoyed to see you back Ark!! :D

*Meh*, I started Roleplaying due to the increase in FFA's whereever i went, i got bored of regular gameplay so i sought out to try something knew, at first I Roleplayed on star wars battlefront and battlefront 2, but got bored, and when i got JKA i joined outcry, spent a month RP'in there, then tried here, got bored quickly here so then i found continuum, i had no patience.

Next i found JK-RP and spent 3 months rp'in there, then it started to collapse so i chose to return here.

I suppose when I was about 9-10 and I was browsing the internet, I just got tired of all the same deathmatching games and capture the flag crap. I always thought, "Hey, wouldn't it be cooler if you had friends who took things at least a little more seriously instead of jumping around killing each other?"

So I actually started roleplaying on BYOND (A small, MUD-like program with a map for most games. 2D, nothing special, but still exists in a much better form today than back then.) and on a Dragon Ball Z game no less. I wasn't exactly the best at it, but just that experience brought me to like roleplaying. So I went around and started looking at other games, even a text-based game called RP Engine and later RP Unlimited that I played for maybe a solid 6-7 years, among other things. I did things like San Andreas Multiplayer games, such as Los Santos Roleplay (Perhaps the best roleplay server on SAMP, which gets near 500 players every day. Imagine the chaos! It's actually pretty orderly with how efficiently the admins run it. Sorry if this is considered advertising :D ), JAMP RP's with a friend, and plenty of other stuff. Coming to ::JEDI:: was amazing, because I wasn't expecting the community to be so great, not that I had bad feelings about it, though.

It was a quick start and I came a long way, and I still love roleplaying, especially with this community as my first and perhaps only clan I'd like to join on JAMP. Even as a hopeful, I've found roleplay that can be fun, and I know that as I go on to better things, the RP will never get boring for me, as there will always be an opportunity to do something fun when others are around.

Galen, while your enthusiasm for old posts is great, they are usually long dead like this one. In this case it's been almost five years, and that's usually for a reason. ;) Ta!

Even so, anyone who actually likes to read through these posts that visits the website will eventually get to my post, and they'll have the ability to read it! It's just there for the archives, to leave a mark on the ::JEDI:: forums to prove I've been here :P

Ten years plus of role playing across chat based forums and websites wasn't enough.

Being the avid starwars fan that I am, the day I found a roleplaying clan on Jedi Outcast, I was hooked.

The day Arven Silaan introduced me to ::JEDI:: I was mind blown. Never looked back.

I for one, applaud Galen for his efforts.

Might as well leave my mark too, I have been a large factor in the JA+ community in past years. Since 2005 I've founded and led 4 clans that all managed over 60+ members and all died for their individual reasons. As some know, I currently lead one which is where half my cyber time goes. Just for the potential effect on my rp reputation or bringing bad clients anywhere I'll keep the name of the clan private. If anyone wants to know ask, if I feel appropriate I'll tell.

Anyway, sometimes the basic nature of FFA isn't enough. And believe it or not, Van is my first character ever and JEDI is the first place I have ever done RP at, so this is all very new and exciting most of the time.

It's pretty funny how I found ::JEDI:: I rped back in the day when I was younger on JKA when it first came out and lost interest in it and quit for a long time, until last year I gained interest in rping again after playing ALOT of KOTOR 1 & 2 an I was thinking to myself what if there were still rp clans that existed today regarding JKA? lol fair enough I did some research on Google and couldn't find anything until one day I checked out TOR and was like oh okay this seems cool, reminded me of world at Warcraft a lot and I didn't really like it much, so I just so happen to randomly check the forums on steam for some games and noticed "Kieran" was promoting ::JEDI:: on one of the posts and I clicked the link that he provided which was a few years old mind you and i check the website out, immediately fell in love with the clan and everything about it, especially how serious it was which made me want to be apart of ::JEDI:: even more and BAM! Here I am.

I've been hopping around JA a while now, it's where I started rp'in in some of the small time JA+ communities before I first discovered ::JEDI:: two(?) years ago, still a complete noob.
I used to bunny hop a lot when I arrived back on Yavin and soon left as I wasn't cut out for the elite at the time in terms of maturity and I felt experience too, returning a few times later to see how I could hold up but only managing it in twice and once I restarted after my character became far too like myself.

During the absences I moved to SWTOR to RP and it became the center, at the time I was in DAJ but I've also had some history with Arven and Kieran in previous communities who became good friends after a while with the occasional ups and downs. Lately I've tried RP on TOR again but I can't get into it if I'm honest, strongholds has killed the RP community there (I apologize this is a little off topic). I hope to stay as long as allowed, at first on my current run I was trouble, OOC all that jazz was still a big issue but as the months have rolled by it's become less and less, no more random 'LOL' when something funny happened or just bugging people over things (maybe a small bit but a hell of a lot less than my other goes).

I do occasionally visit a FFA server to build on lightsaber skills because I honestly suck at it most of the time hehe but RP has always been where I felt I belonged, I love it, to the point it tends to occupy my thoughts when I'm bored heh, going through things in my head, planning character progression and even possible missions but they never make it to paper as I feel they wouldn't be good enough (I'm going to stop I'm being NEGATIVE and I shouldn't.)

But yes, RP is a passion of mine and I don't plan to let it change anytime soon.
