Customizable Force Powers

Basically take a Force Power like Lightning and create a slider for it. At one end of the slider you have greater range at the other you have greater damage. And apply to any Power that would make sense like Push and Pull. To unlock the slider you must get level 3 of the power.

So here's what I think would be good for certain powers:

Lightning
Power <---> Range

Push+Pull
Power <---> Range

Team Heal+Energize
FP/HP<--->Range

Rage(Fury)
Duration<--->Power/Speed

I like this idea

You know, I'd have to agree with both Mazik and Arendur on this one.
This idea is a pretty nice one, and I would actually be happy to see it done. Even if it's a side option. ::shrugs::

I don't think that would be possible, unless you could set EXACTLY each slider level as it's own power level, that may be a lot of work, but if it is possible and not too time consuming for Soh, than yeah I like it.

It's a good idea, but..like others said, not sure it can happen with the JKA engine.

I think it would be possible, but time consuming.

This entire mod is time consuming for Fabien.

I don't think the sliding scale is possible, but I think it could be implemented with a set of different variables. So there'd be levels of powers, and levels of application.

Don't beat an idea down just because you think its not possible, that's entirely up to Fabien. If he sees that there's a hefty bit of interest in a concept he'll most likely explore it to see what potential lies there.

I may note that considering sliders, it is possible to make one without too much hassle, considering we have sliders for music volume and whatnot. Then again, the range of a forcepower is generally coded into the server.

I think a range of three would be sufficient enough, and let the slider/selector snap to one of three positions.

I.E., Stronger - Neutral - Further

I was actually thinking of something like that earlier.

Will this actually be a matter of customization or more nonsense for people to minmax? The verisimilitude is a kind idea and I am not against features but I am against extraneous features. I think we can do without this one.

When you put it that way, yes it does seem a little much.

I think this could be adjust so that you can only adjust one, maybe two powers total. It would be a good way to translate 'specialized' training. First adjustment available at say, level 15, and the second at 20. You could also do only one specialization period.

I don't see it as a matter of min-maxing, because its a matter of application, not necessarily "how much ass I wanna kick" (taking the min-maxing term in a gamer sense), but wouldn't have Jedi done the same with their abilities? To min-max their abilities to decrease the loss and increase the gain?

It would be a way to realistically adjust the use of abilities.

If this was enabled, I would adjust my abilities as necessary to a situation, and would encourage others to do the same.
