Comm Link Suggestion

Uhm, I've searched through this forum and not spotted this suggestion before, but if it has been suggested feel free to lock/delete.
I've noticed that sometimes people RP as if either a) they have left their comm in their rooms or b) they have their comms turned off.
Would it be possible to add a toggle command, something like '/commoff' to block any attempted messages sent and send an automated response back along the lines of 'The Person you have contacted cannot be reached at this moment in time." (with '/common' allowing your character to accept comm messages'.
Just like mobile/cell phones, their are times were you don't want to be contacted, or times where social decorum isn't best suited for a comm message. Where you would then have to ((My comm's off, didn't get your message)) and then hope that nobody else IC reacts to your comm going off.
I don't know how doable this is, but hey, it's just a suggestion I want to put out there.

Well, problem with that is, that broadcast would also backfire, because there is no person called broadcast on the server.

I actually quite like the idea but i'm not sure it's really worth putting in. I simply tend to reply to Comm's with /comm (person) ::Static:: or something along those lines.
Guess my personal vote would be, nice but not needed. Wouldn't be disappointed with this if it went either way though.

I'm in agreement with Kaelen here.

This is how I understand comlinks to work.
Each comlink has its own frequency, much like a phone number, when calling someone on that frequency, you cannot determine whether or not they have their comlink on or off, you can only hope for a reply.
Where a broadcast would be to all comlinks in an area.
I don't care for the idea, because its main purpose is to avoid people getting upset when someone doesn't call them back. Which really, its rather trivial, and a silly thing to get upset over.

I think broadcast should be patched through a speaker system throughout the temple rather than comm links, because, realistically, comm links *can* be turned off.

In my opinion they'd have to put way more work and effort into making this possible than it's worth it. Sorry, but as much as that rule annoys me at some times I think it applies here - ''If it ain't broke..''.

I agree with Kaelen, a simple reply with ::Static:: or whatever fits your needs seems like the answer to this.

I too am with Kaelen on this. Though, I do like Baelin's idea of the broadcast being sent through some sort of Temple wide system.

Double post ftw!
And.. what would it change anyway..? It would still be the very same good old broadcast, just.. we'd imagine it going through speakers instead of the comlink? And what if we were on some kind of trip or something, with no speakers and were to make a broadcast? Idk, I like it the way it is.

It's a good Tyi, and I encourage you in this kind of thinking, but at the end of the day I think it's a bit more hassle than it is worth.
Also keep in mind long-term, that other communities outside of our own would be using this mod. Soh wants the mod to work for our specific needs, but leave it open enough so that others can make good use of it.
