It sounds plausible, but if we have Lightning and Drain combined with Hold, I think we should bring back Grip Kick, for those of us who don't plan on ever learning Drain or Storm. Besides it's not like kicking someone with grip does any more damage than when Corinth shoots you around the room. :)

Grip Kick, makes me sick to my stomach to even think about. I bad mouthed the JA+ kids so badly. (my reasons are my own) Please please please never introduce it.

Props to those who have ideas, but I really don't understand the problem with the current system or blocking system.

While I do support the combinations proposed by Aknaross, I don't support the idea of adding grip-kick. However...

Let me tell you the 'problem' with the fighting system, at least from my perspective, which I guess I share with others: realism. Those of us who support these type of changes see them as a bonus for realism. In this case, all these feats (not counting the grip-kick; I'm talking about the ones Aknaross describes) are powers that we would be able to do simultaneously, but the system doesn't let us.

I understand your worries about laming, as I hate it a lot as well. However, think about it. The only people who could do two of these powers together would be people who have spent XP on it, meaning that they already passed initiation, progressed with their characters, and eventually reached a certain level. To get there, you need to spend time. And, for all that process to happen, I am sure that the player must not be a lamer or such. Otherwise, he would have been exiled already from the complaints. ;)

I understand the *fear* of abuse that many members here, but then again, I haven't seen the first *member* lamer. Have you?

Grip kick aside, since everyone is so against it. All the powers need to be balanced IMO. A lot of the powers in canon are rare like absorb for instance, only a hand full of Jedi were actually good at it lol. So if you were to add something like this I don't think it should really be possible until a higher level. Just me though.

Actually, (having read a few EU stories) it's not as rare as you would think...From my understanding, it was a normal technique that Jedi used to prepare themselves when fighting another Force user.

I imagine the stories you've read are about the Skywalkers, and not to kid ourselves...no character in JEDI would even have a fraction of the power held by a member of that family.

And no, absorb is a rare technique. What you're talking about Maloush is the result of the mental discipline that Jedi naturally acquire as a result of their training. They make them have greater 'will', so to speak- allowing them to resist your attempts at manipulating the Force's flow within them.

If I -ever- buy absorb, it wouldn't really be absorb, just an in-game representative of the mental discipline my character has acquired. Absorb, as an ability, is fairly rare.

Our entire gaming system is completely unrealistic by itself, it's an 'action game' not intended for RPG-use. It's our own Roleplay that makes it realistic, not the other way around.

We've all commented on how our system isn't great. Yet, we use it. So, there's no reason for it to be changed majorly. A few additions here and there, sure, but no complete overhaul.

There are still mixed feelings about the topic at hand. I like Aknaross's notion of letting almost any power activate while you are using hold. It's realistic, I suppose.

Interesting. Shame you can't absorb blaster fire with the absorb we have at the moment, especially for those who can use it.

Protect+Absorb for the win/lose.

Yeah but that's almost a waste of energy. Like how Absorb should nullify the effects of DEMP as well, but it doesn't.

Absorb would absorb ANY type of energy lol. While I like the idea of absorb soaking up blaster fire, I think that's too Godmoddy...I even brought the idea up to Az like a week ago lol.

As seen in an SWTOR video, absorb could even absorb lightsaber energy, now THAT's godmoddy.
