In summary: The virus makes your computer check a different server than its supposed to when accessing websites. Virus makers were caught. FBI is shutting down fake servers, but if you have the virus, this means you can't access the net anymore after Monday, when they go down.

Heh. Sounds like what I had earlier this week. Combo Fix eliminated it with minimal effort.

Just a heads-up, I've been dealing with this at work for the last few weeks. Alongside a DNS hijacker and a java injection script.
AVG seems to pick up on most of these just fine, but I would also recommend the following:
Comodo Cleaning Essentials
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
*
Kapersky Virus Removal Tool
*Kapersky makes weapons-grade cyber security products, would recommend any of them in a heartbeat.
