Help!

I recently installed Jedi Academy on a computer that has Windows 8. I tried to run in in compatibility mode and as admin, but I still get the following error:

Anybody have ideas on a solution? Cheers!

You don't by chance have JA through Steam?
As for that error, sadly it seems to be a reoccurring issue with each new version of JA.. have you installed it and tried to run it with just the default files and the 1.0.1 update?

@Illrian Running it traditionally. I've tried 1.00 and 1.01, still get that same error. I've tried to update my video card driver with no such luck. Running out of options :(

@Amoné Both SP and MP yield the same error.

Hm, and I can assume you've tried all the various compatibility options?

Yeah, sadly I've already tried all of that. The original post states that he could get to the MP menu, I don't even get that far.

Open your task manager. You might have an instance of it running...

It happens to me when I launch JKA twice on the same computer. Also, try to launch it with "Execute as an administrator", it might work.

@Azra I did at first and I thought that was the issue as well. But upon killing the process and still getting the error, sadly I don't think that's the true root of the problem.

@Herenai I thought that would help as well, since that's what fixed the problem with running JKA on Windows 7 for me. But no such luck on with Windows 8 :(

That's incredibly odd, I'm running JKA on W8 Pro x64 and I have no compatibility issues whatsoever. Are all drivers installed, including the latest DirectX?

Yes, drivers are up to date. I had absolutely no problem playing on this laptop when it had 7, so I know the hardware can handle it.
