I would like to be able to use the RPSound command to create a sound that is only heard by those adjacent to where the sound was initiated from, rather than heard server-wide. Is this possible?

I still agree with it.
I'd also like:
This way it would be like /rpnotify and I could play a sound only audible to Alehk.

I would absolutely love this. I think /rpsound is underused because it's global.

I forgot to reply to this thread, but in 0.5.0 I added targeted sounds to /rpsound, with the following syntax:

/rpsound once <sound file> [all or -1 | player]
By default, the sound is targeted to the player executing the command (which is a change compared to the current command). Note that players near the target can also hear the sound (it's not a "private" sound), but they won't hear it if they are at the other side of the map.
Let me know if "private" sounds are also necessary for RP purposes.
