I'm more curious how wookieepedia will handle it. It's an invaluable resource for parts of the universe we might not be all that familiar with.

To be honest...
While there are a few things in the EU beyond Episode VI that I liked... I wouldn't mind them wiping the slate completely clean. However, I do find it disrespectful to the writers of the many novels of the time depicted after the end of the first Galactic Civil War. This change will affect the RP in JEDI little, I think. We'll continue on with the canon we've already established and move forward. That's all we can do.
