Hello once again, everyone. I know some of you will remember, I used to go by Jenny Wrix quite some time ago. I have many fond memories of this community and its members. At times, I reflect on those days and consider how important it was to my life. I had originally joined in early 2010, with an odd fixation on the name Jenny so it carried into my character. I can still remember my first time joining the galaxy server, and unintentionally disturbing an ongoing outing with Aayla Vigil (while also using her model ). Fortunately, she pardoned my ignorance to the situation. Another instance after that, I can recall joining when it was one of the city maps though the exact name escapes me. I had simply been improvising background characters while something else went on, unsure of what my goal really was.

I believe it was Nivek Tholmai that pulled me aside, and helped me with creating my rpmod account and instructing me on what to do next. I could go on, my memory of events here are very much permanent and detailed with me, a benefit but a curse at times. My departure from here was more rough than I'd like, and at times I wish I could do it all over again. But I do admire very much the ways that which my life was influenced by this place, and the lessons I had learned from it.

Which is why I am here today, I still admire this place. I wish to learn more, and remember more of what was taught to me in the past. I was fifteen years old when I first joined, a rather defective version of the person I am now. A lot of that was, in my opinion, fixed from my interactions here. My only regret is leaving when I did, and not facing what could have come next. But now I wish to put forth the effort I did not give before, and form more of those lasting memories of JEDI that I carry with me nearly 15 years later.

Hey everyone,

I’m jumping back into Jedi Academy after way too long away. I used to play on GalaxyRP back in high school (around 2008) — it wasn’t Jedi-focused, but it really sparked my love for Star Wars roleplay in JKA. Ever since then I’ve been a lifelong fan of the game and the galaxy far, far away.

I’m really looking forward to exploring the RP here, meeting all of you, and getting involved in the community. Can’t wait to hop on the server and start creating stories together.

I admit, I was peer-pressured into this -- if by "peer" I mean a dear friend and housemate Tec (San'ago) and by "pressured" I mean "regaled with Tec's stories about San'ago things since the very beginning, when San'ago was still this Gand". (I also knew the person who is the reason San’ago is a Gand and from whom San’ago derives his name. Not as well as Tec did, but I played with his Gand and Aknu would have loved San’ago.)

I’ve been doing roleplay in prose or instant message since roughly 2003 (or so? I could check), including an IM roleplay that ran from 2009-2024 and a Pathfinder 2e campaign that’s run since 10/2021 (ongoing as of this writing 4/2026). But I’ve never RP’d in a video-game medium: in fact, I didn’t have access to video games until 2009 and JKA is the second game I’ve ever played without a controller (besides Cobblemon). So part of Thala having spasms or moving slow or clumsily is to explain my own utter inexperience with keyboard and mouse gameplay and the mistypes or misclicks I’ll be doing.

The other part is that I’m neurodivergent: I’m ADHD as hecc and part of how the executive dysfunction shows up is in spatial relations and hand-eye coordination. Left and right get mixed up for me: I have an easier time using clock-face terms, where 12 o’clock is ahead/up, 3 is right, 6 is behind/down, and 9 is left. I also have to see my hands to type, though I do type quickly to compensate.

In any case, please excuse my inexperience, Thala will likely be slow to respond at times, and might get lost.

For myself, I’m Patch, an enby nerd in my 30s. I’ve most recently been working in elementary special education, but I’ve done a little bit of everything (see: ADHD as hecc). Up til recently I ran a queer writing group in Iowa City called The Rainbow Room (if you’re adjacent to the area, check out the SFF group The Violet Realm, and tell Erin that Patch said hi). I also worked with a CRANDIC-based SFF litcon called ICON from 2016-2024.

I am a sucker for storytelling of pretty much any medium, though I have a bias for written works. Right now I’m bingeing T.Kingfisher, Ann Leckie, Neon (JY) Yang, and Martha Wells, and I also enjoy Tamsin Muir, Seanan McGuire, and Christopher Stasheff. Lore is my jam: canon or headcanon, I love diving into the history and worldbuilding of settings. (I’ll never finish any of my novels because I get way too deep into worldbuilding.) I also love language: I try to learn at least a little of any language in my local area and do a little conlanging for fun now and again.

Ironically, I’m also kind of shy? It helps me a lot when I’m DM’d for the first time if you start with how I know you, like “Hey, this is Thala from JEDI” for example. I also don’t always catch social cues so if I’m missing your attempt to disengage or something, just tell me directly.
