Chat Distinguishing
Chat Distinguishing
Often times I have my console up and the 'chat icon' appears above my head. People think I am in the midst of typing something, when, in fact, I am not.
Would it be possible to have two different icons? One for chat, and one for the console?

Stole my suggestion right in front of me... I had planned to suggest that today.
Anyhow, I support this idea. Perhaps a console-icon above you, when in console and the current one, when chatting. The console one should also be applied when being in the menu/pressing escape, as my character starts spinning around, if I switch to another workplace, so I have to go somewhere, where the mouse doesn't affect the mouselook in-game.

Good idea, but it isn't possible. The server would need to know the difference between "typing a message" and "being in the console", which is impossible because:
- the only correct way of doing it (modifying the usercmd the client sends) is out of my reach (it's in jamp.exe, the source code isn't available)
- the other way (using a command) wouldn't work well because of sv_floodProtect, which prevents sending more than 1 command per second. Thus it wouldn't always work or might cause problems, like messages quickly typed not being sent.
