[DONE] HOLD Animation

Post by Aknaross Myotis »

I come here to make a suggestion of switching the animation from Hold. From my point of view, it isn't much realistic when someone is held in the middle of the air, remain quiet without do any movements to be released. So at least the character that is being held should move some of his members to look more realistic.

Then I was searching on animations lists to see what could be replace that "swimming" stance better to this necessity, and I found one that can work just fine.

Animation code: BOTH_PULLED_INAIR_F

It should replace the animation for Hold 1-2-3, those which don't cause any harm to the target, and it should loop until the target is released.

Below follows a sample of this animation.

I hope you enjoy, and that our programmer can make it possible.

Please make your comments.

Looks good, and I like the animation a lot more than the one we have right now.

I like it too, but if you could slow it down it might look better, to me anyway.

I think that it looks good at the speed it is right now. Think about if you were being held in the air. Would you be flailing your arms slowly, or quickly?

I think that depends. Are you surprised by being held up, or are you being held by a trusted master?

Syrena makes an excellent point. If Jamus levitates Cyril purposefully for some objective, then why would Cyril flail his arms around?

Perhaps it could be separated into two categories: enemy usage and friendly usage. If it is an 'enemy' then one animation would be played, if it was 'friendly', then it would be like it is now. True, a 'friendly' usage could be in a spar, where you might flail, but that's an acceptable deficiency to me.

Nice find and a nice thought.

maybe you could alternate the movements, so it goes from slow to fast like your calm and once and while you lose your sense of balance.

99% of the time someone will lift you by surprise. I've only ever been lifted as part of a lesson or demonstration once in my entire time here.

All and all i think it's actually not a bad idea! Don't know how easy or hard it'll be to do but yeh, good idea! Only thing i'd worry about is how long you have to wait for the animation to stop. I mean, if someone quickly taps hold to make you withdraw your saber, will it take you longer than it already does to move again?

Very good point, you don't want people taking advantage of a lengthy animation and it would be silly watching a person stand on the ground, still flailing their arms.

I think however, most animations "reset" movement keys once you hit the ground anyway so it shouldn't change the small pause you get normally.

Besides... tapping grip to force a saber withdrawal is cheap!

I found it funny, until everyone started copying my idea.

I don't mind making a whole new animation for both, I'm quite familiar with the animation program Dragon. Definately a nice find though.

I made a new meditative stance once, much like the one in SWG.

I've always wished there was a "perched" sitting animation. How easy would that be?

Please come with some samples of animations that you have done.. If you have some. Well.. I don't see why we should change this whole new animation for HOLD effect that was found, but sure we can improve on it.

But sure a few things could be changed.. Some emotes... New emotes with new animations. We just have to check if they are going to change a lot the animation basic file (animation.gla) so it is better you suggest on a new thread and talk with the mod programmer, check with him what you two can work togheter.

Have u seen how enemies move in the sample videos of the SWTFU game, when they are being force-held?

Technically, it appears to be the same power.

This emote is just perfect for hold!
