120/120 FTW!Vantus wrote:My Character is a 23 year old padawan, twittering on 75 health and shields when there is a 15 year old padawan (*cough*Kael*cough*) with well over 100 health and shields.
My argument here though is that everyone is different in real life anyway. Your going to get the odd fifteen year old who can kick a twenty-three year olds butt anyday of the week :p
But, more seriously, I think of it this way - I spend much more time doing physical 'training' than most others do, (due to my real life free time just now). It seems obvious to me that I would have more dexterity, stamina becuase of that training anyway. But Vantus is right when he says -
Going a little off topic but I too also had to wait two months before I gained a saber or any kind of force powers. I fully understand where everyone is coming from and the points your trying to bring up with these posts but you all seem to be missing out on a great opertunity IMO. NOW is the time to hone your character and shape them. RP a little and understand which direction you'd like to take your character.Vantus wrote:As much as I don't like it or feel age and RP-reasons don't get taken into account, I do understand that it is near impossible to treat every single person that joins the server on an individual basis.
Abilities and Templates are handled by "Rank" not IP. So for example, All Initates have a set template they work and progress on as do Padawans etc. They can't individualise it personally for each member.
Besides, if we created a private account and gave everyone weapons and force after their first few days, what would there be to progress to? Giving people everything at the beginning saps the fun out of achieving things.
My advice, though going a little off topic again, heh, would be to concentrate on your characters developement for now. Decide where you want to take it. It just makes getting your saber and force abilities all the sweeter, when you do :p

If the 23 year old spent more time reading books, contemplating the meaning of life and sitting down flaccidly all day meditating - then I would see your point.Kael Sekura wrote: My argument here though is that everyone is different in real life anyway. But it's not like Vantus is a girl-scout. (Regardless of what people think of the Skin I use.)
Vantus' character has sacrificed all mental abilities and persued the more Physical traits of a Jedi. IE. Speed/Sabering/Jump.
He does not have Pull, Hold, Sense. (He has ONE point on Push...)
That's not even dipping into his RP history either. So its not like Vantus is any less Physically adept than Kael. You just have more time to show it on the server than I do.
A presance on the server is always good but you don't get HP and Shield points for swinging your saber around on your own.
I've not been able to attend as many classes as you Kael.
No classes = No XP.
Granted that's nobody's fault. Not blaming anyone for that but at least before we would have still been around the same HP/Shields.
My Point being, RP reasons (Or logic) do not come into consideration using the new Force Point Progression system. I might not like it, but I accept it.
Sorry for the slightly off-topic rant but this seemed like the best opportunity to state my mind.

Yeah but if you were any good it wouldn't matter how many HP you had would it?
But seriously, yes the system isn't perfect but I'd argue that the few cases that don't seem to fit the progression are exceptions not the norms.

Rather than change the guests HP, why not just set the lowest for our accounts to be 100 again, and change the progression of the xp to be a bit smaller between levels? Simpler to do that try and fix the guests.

That sounds like a good idea, something like what i was thinking but couldn't put into words.Syrena Exan wrote:Rather than change the guests HP, why not just set the lowest for our accounts to be 100 again, and change the progression of the xp to be a bit smaller between levels? Because I would go to bed crying each night not having my 214/214. Just dropping in a few comments here...
Vantus, I absolutely understand what you are saying. Unfortunately, JEDI is developed (in almost all aspects) for the traditional Jedi path, starting as a fairly young child, even though it doesn't always work out in this manner. Yet [thus], I tend to generally agree with the sentiment that it's something you have to put up with until your character advances along. At some point, it should even out.

I find this a nice thought, with the exception of that I rather like the current progression. Also, I know factually that when this system was developed, it was difficult enough to develop the formulas for how the levels were spaced according to supposed skill and experience, then calculate the ratios and the actual values. The problem with lessening the progression range is that it was, indeed, already difficult enough to space it within the room we have. And if one doesn't leave enough room between certain levels, then the result is subpar, as one then finds that progression between those levels is so small, that the act of gaining a level means very little (as it was before). In addition, it's my opinion that the current spacing has vastly improved sparring, in that it has allows each player more flexibility to spar as they style (with their own style, if you will), without having to spend ample amounts of time worrying about infringing upon realism.Rather than change the guests HP, why not just set the lowest for our accounts to be 100 again, and change the progression of the xp to be a bit smaller between levels? Simpler to do that try and fix the guests.

Seriously? Alright, let's think about this again.
The guests have 100 health points, which they don't really need, since they don't fight, really. A few guests fist fight, but it doesn't really matter if they have more health than another initiate, because our clan isn't based around fist fighting.
I really don't see the issue here, at all.

Might be a bit off topic but, can you randomize the way people level up? like instead of letting the individual pick the force power, when a master adds the XP it automatically chooses something, unless the master chooses one manually to level up that pertains to the lesson. That might add a bit of individuality. Just a thought. Feel free to flame me.

That's not what we mean by level up: when you gain a level (after obtaining a set amount of XP), you gain a set amount of HP and FP according to the class that you've chosen (Guardian, Sentinel, Consular). It really doesn't have much to do with the Force Abilities.
Gaining Force Powers are dependent on training - if you want a Force Power you don't have, you need to be taught it by a Knight or a Master. If you've already got it, then increasing it to the next level is a matter of 'practice', and entirely up to the individual.

lol Individuality should be unavoidable as the system is now. We choose the direction our characters go. I wouldn't like to be told how to develope my character. I'd rather chose for myself... :p
