Strange is that this comes at all. With lightning/grip/push/pull/defense/protect/mindtrick >3 available (and with most Knights+ already using 1 or more of these powers at lvls higher than 3), the debate about the fairness of gunners vs Jedi becomes very ridiculous imo.Alkur Tekeil wrote:I know it may sound strange coming from me, but it seems that with this it seems that gun-wielding bad guys are getting utterly screwed when it comes to fighting a Jedi, making combat even more one sided. If there is no possibility of defeat, how can it be fun? Might as well enable cheats and allow for god mode.
I mean we already are leviathans, while gunners are snacks. Why take only the telekinetic aspect as object of discussion?
A Jedi with push/pull/grip at 1, but lightning, or protect, or defense (or pretty much any other power that can remotely be used to attack or to boost your defence) at lvl3 or higher will not have any problems at all with gunners.
Solution? Nerf all powers. Better: Nerf the powers system as a whole (aka: no overpowered high-lvl powers/nerfed high-lvl powers, or lesser rate of xp-gain, resulting in longer time to purchase (high-lvl) powers).
The argument of "play realistically then" doesn't work. After all, why would I purchase high-lvl powers if I were to use them at an extremely little rate? <- flaw in the power system here.
Because you're in a (debatable) strict role playing community, and those things are frowned upon?Lynee'alin wrote:The argument of "play realistically then" doesn't work. So, at times of danger and possible death of me and my companion(s)/hostage(s), I would tip-toe my way to my attackers (gunners) in order to stroke them to death with the feathers attached to my silk gloves, rather than simply blast them away and obliterate them with my high-lvl powers?Dhiro wrote:Because you're in a (debatable) strict role playing community, and those things are frowned upon?
Sure, in spars and such one wouldn't go all Leonidas and fire away the big guns (except the duelists agree to certain modifications).
I hope you weren't thinking that I was referring to the usage of these powers against younglings.

(Probably a bad reference, but using anyways.) In the movies, do you see Jedi randomly using their Force Powers at will? They've used probably two, three at most during a fight. Including one incident where Force Push, Force Lightning and Force Throw was done in a single fight. Heck, even Master Yoda and Darth Sidious's fight didn't use that many powers. There were some fights in the movies where one of the Jedi didn't even 'use' Force Powers at all.
Bottom line to my point, Jedi are able to use the Force, but the way it should be Role played out is that with training and experience, you'll gain a higher level of Force Power, but you will always feel a slight drain on 'your' power. You can't go about using 7 Force Pushes, 3 Force Speeds, 11 Force Pulls, 4 Force Absorbs, 6 Force Protects all in one fight. There needs to be realism implemented in a real life fight. Plus the situations of environments (not trained to withstand high altitude for very log, or to humid, or your clothes are wet and dragging you down), your over all health, your reactions, the other person's reactions. You won't always remember what to do, and.. It's just.. the list is endless and most of the time by-passed or over looked.

I think a lot of the Jedi-overpowering-soldiers is the fact that a blaster shot does hardly any damage, whereas in canon SW it's pretty much one-hit-KO. if that were changed, i'd say it'd make for a much fairer fight. well, actually if it were changed to one-hit-KO, it'd be a bit imbalanced on the side of the soldiers... perhaps a 2-3 hit KO?
Plus I mean typically a Jedi can easily overpower a soldier. It's only when you get a large group of them together that the Jedi go down. People often use Order 66 as an example of Jedi being taken out by just handfuls of soldiers, but you must remember that these were friends taking you completely by surprise and shooting you in the back.
Anyway, adding this (push-pull pain) will make things much more realistic, in my eyes, and again, I think it's a GREAT idea!

I disagree, not ever Jedi was a B.A. Even if taken by surprise, if they were as good as you say, then they would be able to defend themselves easily. ::I sense a disturbance in the force (deception):: I don't know. But if they were that good, it seems odd that so many Jedi died.

Haven't you seen the recent Indiana Jones movie? Two words,"Double Agent".Gabe Alkorda wrote:You're standing with friends you've had for seven years, and you can sense no betrayal in them, as such a thing isn't even in their genetic code. All of the sudden they open fire on you, with not the slightest advance warning. It's gonna be a bit difficult to defend yourself. Anyway... off topic.

Yoda 'sensed' it coming by feeling the death of many Jedi through the Force, but not the deception of the clones.

I read the novel of Episode 3, and the reason why there was no 'deception' in the heart of the clones is because they had none. It wasn't out of deception, it wasn't out of furry or spite against the Jedi : they carried an order from the highest authority.Atrux Nuro wrote:I disagree, not ever Jedi was a B.A. Even if taken by surprise, if they were as good as you say, then they would be able to defend themselves easily. ::I sense a disturbance in the force (deception):: I don't know. Greetings all,
Because i'm a fan of realism, i think this feature would be really good to have for optional use in battle, but it should have some downfalls to it as well, for the likes of BaseJKA 'Force Rage' where it drains your health while in use, thus what i'm trying to say is this kind of ability should for example drain your force points down quicker if objects can knock down your opponent and remove health points depending on speed and power of the object.
Also, another idea to add to this if possible is to have at least two force users that can move an object so there can be away of stopping the impact on the individual, otherwise you will just get hit either way.
And if that can't be implemented then hopfully you can use force push for defence.
Hope this made sence, (Getting Tired)
Many thanks,
Nika Reen.

About Force Rage.. I just have an idea that it could be adapted to be Force Valor.. very used by master Yoda on his movements... It could be a power to improve abilities.. such as endurance, speed.. body abilities..
But as I said.. just an idea..
